Hi, I wonder if any one could tell me how do the rear drive shafts on the sierra mount to the diff, that being a 7 " diff . do they push in or are they bolted?. If They push in do I buy drive shafts that are splined?

Thanks

It depends which particular diff you have. I have a 3.64 lsd which has bolt on shafts. Im sure twin turbo will know more :D

This is almost 100% the case.

Rear Disk cars have bolt on lorobo shafts.
Rear Drum Cars have Push in tripode shafts.

Lorobo's can be on LSD or Open Diffs.
Push in Tripode Drums on Open Diffs.

Some Very rare cases of drums on bolt on shafts

6.5" Very Rare only push in
7" Either
7.5" Bolt on only and LSD unless a Bug Eye Scorpio which is 7.5" open.

Hi, thanks for the help, do you think it would be better to try and find an assembly of diff /drive shaft and drums that were all on the same car or would it be ok getting diff and drive shaft and then hubs all seperatley

thanks

Its fine as long as you mach the shafts with the diff.
saying that though its probably much easier getting it all as a set.

Decide whether you want drum or disc rear end as the hubs are also push in or bolt on.
There is a way of making a drive shaft with push in at the hubs and bolt on at the diff but requires Desiel push fit shafts with the tripod removed at the diff end and replaced with a Lobro.

here is a bit of a Q if i wanted to go lsd in the future and i have push fit shafts, diff and drum back end is the only way of doing this to swap shafts to lobro type and hubs etc. or has some co. made a conversion kit?
i have seen push fits back ends converted to take discs but never thort about lsd conversions

Hi, could someone confirm i have this right if i come across a diff that is none lobro does that mean that the drive shafts push into it ?

I have seen some drive shafts that look like they bolt on and some that must push in, and i have seen a diff but it is none lobro i am not sure what that means. should i try and get a 3.6 ratio or 3.9.
sorry to keep going on about this
thanks for everyones help
