sorry if there is already a post like this.
Does anybody know if the mx5 seats will fit into a roadster?
The reason being is my mate has bought an MX5 and is offering me the seats.
the seats can be modified to be like bucket seats they call it a "Foam Sectomy" they are created by removing parts of the foam giving you a lower and more supported seat.
Thanks in advance

I'm sure the book says they're usable from the early mx5's but it's probly worth measuring them against the space in your chassis. Personally I'm planning on using the rear center seat from renault senics as these seem to fit well :)

The seats are ideal basic / comfortable seats for the roadster. They would fit but you would need to remove the ratchet mechanism from either side of the seat and lock them off. The runners are only 13" centers and would fit fine with the foamy sides squeezing down into the car.
If you need more dims then give me a shout.

I've not compared the seats up close but i believe the Mk1 seat to be a more compact / basic seat to the Mk2. Not sure if they went for electric seats to for the Mk2.

One thing to remember (with the mark 1 seats at least) is that the mountings for the sliders are at an angle to the sliders themselves. However, there's very little distance between the very bottom of the seat and the bottom of the flat part of the runners, so they will still sit very low if needed. The mounting tabs protrude about an inch or so past the flat bit of the runners, if that makes sense.
