I have a cheap Nutool air compressor which has been really handy for those daft wee jobs...i swapped it for a bottle of Malt !! however it recently snapped its drive belt ..20 quid for 2 !! since i fitted the belt it refuses to get above 15 psi tank pressure...its a single piston type...with what look like some kind of reed valves above the piston ...i have replaced the gaskets and had a general eyball for damage of which i cant see any...no leaks ...so if anybody has any ideas ...before i boot the thing into the skip !!

I had a cheapy compressor that wouldn't build pressure, on mine there was a valve between the compressor out and the tank, I think it was a pressure relief valve. I found this jammed open and was bypassing air, took it out, cleaned the seat and it worked. Hope this helps.

unloading valve leaking.... will look like a ballbearing in a hole, mostly in an elbow going into the tank
possible crap in that , it will blow all the time and not seal

heers for that...i took the elbow at the tank apart today and found a bit of what looks like 10 thou shim...so on closer inspection one of the reed valve is snapped ...i thought it should look like that as the break was that clean...dont think there will be a spare part available ...have thought about making one from shim but its in the shape of a flower with pretty tight radius ...so it may be destined for the bin...another 200 quid required before i can buy more bits.....

Andy,
My 24 ltr Burgen compressor died last week. Needs a motor, but I'm wondering if the reed valve would be the same as yours. I lot of these things are the same. Have you any pictures?

Not sure how this will come out but here goes !!! Been looking at electrochemical etching the part out of some shim steel..all thats needed is a stainless cathode ie scrap...a battery charger and some salty water...worth a try
