There have been some great threads recently on whats in the drive, current build status ect.
No mention of stuff thats be sold and missed.
When I was eighteen I bought an old red rusty 1964 etype jag for £800 and spent what seemed to be a life time <two years> restoring it. I have never done so much welding and rubbed down so much filler on any car in my life. But this car out of all the cars i have owned is the one that I sold and miss the most.

Most missed cars ???????

Got to say i miss my first Car, it was a kitcar also.

I had a 1969 Mini Marcos MK3 that i got just as a shell at age 15.
Spent years building it and got it back on the road when i was 19. Had it 8 months before some B*tch wrote it off.
I'd commit murder if i got the change.

It was obviously based on the mini, it was the only Mini 1275 that i ever had that would do 6700 RPM in top gear. No idea of the speed as the speedo was never calibrated but Fast would be an understatement for a 19 year old.

God i miss that car!

Oh don,t get me reminiscing Bob

For me cars wise

Capri 2.8 injection ( one of the early ones with the 4 speed gearbox & non Recaro trim ) bought brand new in 1982 from my "danger money" from the falklands conflict when I was just 18 yrs old, got pulled almost every day for the first week ......young spotty faced kid in a new motor
Sold it when I got married in 1985 cos the wife couldn,t see over the steering wheel never mind the bonnet, found it for sale 3 years later so bought it back again, but when kids came along it had to go , sad day.

MG Montego Turbo ( i know i know ) but crumbs that thing could shift , it met its end when a conrod decided it wanted to leave the confines of the block on the M40 near Banbury.

Bikes wise

Harris Rotax Supermono 640cc, this was a Harris GP 250 racing chassis with the Rotax Single Cylinder engine, ok it only gave 72bhp ( air cooled class of the Supermono racing series ) but had all the kit , WP racing forks, Harrison Billet calipers, Magnesium Wheels, Ohlins rear shock, fully fueled it only weighed 122kgs, it was very competitve in its series, fell off it a few times too :o , got a great DVD of me high siding it at Castle Coombe . Pic below.

Yamaha TZ250GP , that thing was a missile on wheels, great standard bike , was so good it didn,t need anything doing to it. Best moment on it was spinning up the back tyre going round Copse Corner at Silverstone , it JUST felt sooooo good .

Ahhh must dig out some old photos now ....LOL

cheers

To show my daft side, I genuinely quite missed my VW Beetle :o

Might have learned to miss my Fiat 500 if I never blew the engine up when I first went to use it on the road !!??, 16 at the time & did exactly the opposite to what my dear old dad said  :D

Favourite : Mk1 uk spec civic type r , Billy whizz of the car world, best engine gearbox combo I've ever had my hands on. I had the mk2 but it was nowhere near as good, although it had a lot more kit.

Runner Up : Mk2 mr2 g-limited Jap import hell of a hoot, lovely grumbling engine note behind you. Really fun especially in the wet going around round abouts sideways when the tyres were on the bald side.

Current : A3 2.0 tdi..........................Boring but economical ;)

I still have my first sierra I bought in 1994, last tax disk was 2000! It's been almost finished for 4 years..

Ones I wish I had not sold..

My black 2.9 XR4x4

Not my first XR4x4 but the first one I had on the road, did good service for about 18 months.. Had some fun, but it needed a few things doing ( that I should have done! )

http://www.rob1tt.f2s.com/sierra/crl1.jpg

My XR4i

I bought it initialy for it's 253BHP twin turbo engine, and then changed tack and sold the engine. I fitted a 2.9 12V and drove it twice!! the day my firstborn came along the oil lamp came on, I sold it very very
very £40 cheap!!! to a fellow club member. The oil problem was just a faulty switch :(

Which has been rebuilt by it's new custodian with thunder saloon bodywork and 24V Conversion. It only just made it to the show and had not had any paintwork, the decals appeared courtesy of a club member's print works during a pit stop at the services,,,, We got some strange looks on the run up to silverstone...

Would you believe-----HILLMAN IMP--apart from the strange camber I loved its quirkiness:o Wrote it off in a London pea souper(remember those?)in 1971

The other missed car was a Rover 2000TC Great handling for a biggish car---ali boot lid and bonnet --the rest of it rusted away though:mad:

I realy miss my old 1600 stockhatch grasstracker it's the only car I've ever had that I realy had no worries about driving on the limit. Rules where simple standard lump, inlet/exhaust manifolds, landrover 2 1/4 carb and one silencer. Built the whole thing for £250 and it ran for 3 seasons. Not the quickist thing in the pack of 8-10 but was great for lift off over stear with group N M&S tyres on the front and road tyres on the rear.

Don't miss any of my cars, they've all been rubbish! (With the possible exception of my old MX5).

Bikewise I do regret selling my RVF400. It went for a pittance after I binned it at cadwell :(
I was a bit cash strapped at the time, and as it was my only form of transport I had to flog it quick and buy something else so I could get to work
Can't seem to find any photos of it at the moment.

Also kind of wish I'd kept and properly restored my sdr200.
I'd often get stopped and quizzed about it at petrol stations. And I spent a lot of time at petrol stations as it only had a 60-ish mile tank range, and I had a 40 mile commute!

the only thing i wish i hadnt sold i think must have been my collage project engine i built to go in a mini
started off as a mg metro 1275 engine it got striped everythin mesured and all new rings, and shells
had a new piper 286 cam and i reworked the head to dave vizzard drawings with multi angled valves.
had a lcb exhaust and big su all on it ready to fit sadly the shell i got to fit it in turned out to be roten and never got finished and i sold it on
4 weeks later a woman pulled in the garage grinding to a hult in a mint mary quant mini that she had just drove 3 mile in with the oil light on.
she got it aa'ed away and rang up a few days later and said i could have it if i could go and pick it up gutting

Hmmm cars I miss? My first legal car a mk2 Austin A40, 1100cc, rotten as a pear but paid for and great fun. My 3rd car, a 1971 Austin 1800S, stuck to the road like poo on a picnic blanket especially good in snow, Telford to Sunderland in just over four hours in a blizzard! 1975 Renault 5TS, great fun but French and rotten. 1983 Fiat131 Miriafiori estate, great big car that was extremely chuckable, improved no end when I bunged a twinc in it. We won't mention the Marina:-P

Has to be my 1275 Mini I bought with my first pay cheque. It cost me 1000 rand, 100 quid in UK money. I then spent another 1500 rand (150 quid) fixing the engine and gearbox, drove the 'Yellow Peril', as my boss called it, for 2 years only to get it totalled when I was home on pass from the army...and I wasn't even drunk!!!

I had a series one 111s elise which was only a year old when I got it. That is what got me interested in lightweight cars like the seven. Now that I don't live with my parents and have mortgage and bills etc I am building a roadster which I am sure will be more fun anyway.
During the two years that I owned it it was reversed into by a 3 series - 6k to fix (new clamshell to the front) then it was reversed into by a corsa (bit less to fix as I managed to super glue it! and then I took it out in the snow and crashed into the back of a bus. I realised then it was a really good fit to go underneath - a lady then piled into the back of me wedging it under. she then asked if i was ok then drove off! Anyway it was fixed again with a new front and rear end. The only original panels were the doors! I'm not sure how much the bill came too but i got an invoice for the bus repair and it was only £180. I drove it for the summer then bought a golf.

When I lived in NZ I had a 1.3 automatic toyota starlet which was totally indestructable. We drove it flat out everywhere and only ever put oil in it and paid for its wof and rego!

I wish I still had my 1976 Kawasaki KH250. I bought it when I was 16 and could not ride it for 6 months as in those days you could only get on a 250 at 17. I had to sell it when I was 18 when my first car - a 1300GT Capri came along. The law changed in that time and the legal engine size for 17 year olds went down to 125 and 12 BHP, all the 250's went to zero in value because nobody wanted them and the market was flooded. I think I got about £250 quid for mine. It would be worth about 3 grand now:eek:
I had a breathed on Montego turbo that was an awful lot of fun, it put out about 250 brake and a mountain of torque - I miss that because it did not look like it would be that quick. It surprised quite a few people:D
I also had a Granada 2.8 Ghia x Executive once, that was a lovely car albeit underpowered. Wish I still had it though, it was a superb car.
I wish I had kept my 1996 Jaguar 4.0 Sovereign but had to sell it when I went self employed. I had wanted one for years and at last found myself in a position to buy one but I needed a more practical vehicle for going round the country buying stuff so it had to go.
Current ride is a lightly modified XJR V8 with 420BHP, I have never driven anything quite like it. The 0-60 dash takes less than 5 seconds, it's the fastest leather armchair in the known universe:) I hope I can keep it for a very long time, I suspect parts availability will kill it off in the next few years though.
Dave.

Just thought of another one I miss my second car it was a mk2 fiesta XR2 I was 18 I had rebuilt the engine it was bored out to 1.8 using forged pistons lightened and balanced crank and flywheel ported big valve stage 3 head and cam twin webers and I nitrous system rolling roaded at 180 brake but had the extra 150 brake from the giggle gas at the flick of the switch what a machine for an 18 year old was gutted when I rolled it 7 times end over end landed upside down in the humber river I got out (clearly) the car sank and I never saw it again witnesses told police I was doing about 150mph but they did not believe it from a fiesta so I stuck to the I was doing 60 officer honest routine insurance paid out and I got the worst car I ever owned
