I'm sure most of you are aware of how close the steering column is to the upright of the chassis near the steering rack. Anyway mine is very lightly touching and I don't really want to thin the metal of the extension and repositioning the upright is not really an option now with side panels, brakes, engine etc.
So I was wondering if it would work having a bearing positioned on the upright, but for this to work I would have to have 3 universal joints, one at the upper column, one just before the bearing on the upright and the one afterwards into the rack. Would this work - having 3 uj's or would it just try and twist about? Also I think i've heard that you have two uj's because they tend to have a 1/4 turn fast 1/4 turn slow and so on, so having two cancels each other out?
Thanks
