As some of you know I look after my elderly disabled mum , Who has had a bit of a rough time in the last few months .

She was diagnosed with Cancer in May & since she went into hospital in early July has spent 62 days in hospital having various ops to try & resolve the cancer & during this period she caught pneumonia which in such an elderly person can be quite worrying indeed.

BUT

I,m pleased to say that she came home yesterday :) (after having a couple of weeks in a Rehabilitation Care Home to regain her strength after spending so much time in a hospital bed ).
I,m so impressed with the way she has dealt with the situation & her "Not giving up attitude"....she really is a "Tough old bird " :D

I,d like to thank all the forum members who have PM,d, phoned & texted me to wish her a speedy recovery, thanks guys, your messages meant/mean alot to me & my mum.

The support & care from the NHS & Social Services has been fantastic , right down from the Consultants to the visiting at home nurses, they truly have been & still are being a great help, can,t thank them enough really.
The last time that my mum was taken into hospital from home was when I called 999, this again was handled so well, I was still on the phone to the emergency service as a Paramedic arrived at the house , amazing

My mum has yet to be given the full all clear of the cancer & has to attend hospital for regular check-ups etc but so far so good as they say.

So, a GREAT BIG thanks to all .

cheers

That's really good news for all concerned :D

The NHS has always taken flak for various things so it's nice to read positive things about them.

All the best :)

Thanks for all your kind words ,

She,s been home just over a week now, the first few days she started "going down hill " a bit but is now starting to pick up again.

I do show her the messages/posts from the forum & she,s chuffed that folk that she doesn,t know are sending their best wishes, so once again

Thanks Guys :)

Yes, the NHS do get a bad press sometimes, but in the last few months I can honestly say "they could not have looked after my mother any better, they,ve been great".
