Hi peeps,

My darling wife has got me 6 laps in a supercar :D that's my girl.

The question is what car? I fancy the Aston, but what do you guys think?

The Top Gear adage is "never meet your hero"

So i'm after some advice guy's. what would you all do?

Thanks for taking the time to vote & comment.

Porsche 911 Carrera any day

Its the ultimate sportcar - handles like no other, fast, can be used as a daily runner and city driving does not bother it. Pedigree and the most affordable by far of the bunch - in SA at least.

Find a 5 year old (or older) Ferrari /Lamborghini and it will have basically no mileage on the clock so to speak, but find the same vintage 911 and it would have the mileage on the clock similar to an economy box of same age - that says it all about a 911 - owners loves to drives these cars :)

I would also probably go for the Aston, Porsche or the r8. Only thing my mate found when doing these sort of things is they won't let you give it the beans much in ferrari or lambo etc so best to go for something a little less to get more out of it if u get my meaning? :)

You lucky thing Twin, it certainly is a very hard choice - go for a lap in each then the last lap pick your favourite and just stay out for a while till it runs out of fuel....:)

If i had to choose i think i'd go for the R8 for pure track fun and handling, the rest are ego / status symbols for me. It's a tough choice though.

Having been lucky enough to drive a couple of these i know the Aston would be a good choice and you wouldn't be disappointed, it sounds great when your on the gas and it is beautifully made. The 911 is a real gem, and the one I'd go for everytime with the Ferrari a close second. The Lambo sadly has lost all the madness that made Lambos great.

I did similar and picked the Lamborghini Gallardo.
I found it very disappointing. I had a new Mk5 golf gti at the time and the Gallardo just felt like a lower faster version of that. I think what im trying to say is that it was a bit too civilized, refined and easy to drive. i would choose the ferrari if i had the choice again.

i went for a blast in a ferrari a few years back and i came out decidedly disapointed it felt heavy and a bit cumbersome but then it was a testarossa also had a go in the old mondial 3.2 quadravalve the convertable out that i lived with for a week i found this more fun but was still disapointed and i went off the ferrari's from then on i would go R8 if i had to choose now

I suppose compared to others the ferari 360 probly isn't as good. for me though it was the 1st supercar i'd ever driven and still really enjoyed it :)

It would have to be the Aston, is there not a frustrated 007 hidden inside all of us

My Ex boss used to have the V8 Aston, drove it many times, Makes some good noises but when he wasn't about i rag dolled it a few times and would have to say i was disapointed.

This older brother had the V12 convertible, now that was more like it.

They also had a 3.2L Boxster S. And i want 1 now.

If the Carrera is anything like the boxster (suspect it will be) then it wouldnt be a bad choice.

Me personally, I would opt for the R8 since you will never get to use all the power of the lambo or ferrari, There just to expensive for them to let you.

wouldn't mind a go of the Noble, Zonda or even the Caterham R500.:)

Thats my target for the Haynes roadster, 500 BHP per ton
I've got the power, just need to keep the weight down as much as possible.

Then you'll see Smiles per Mile!!!!!!

I did an aston experience a while back and was disappointed, beautifully made and sounded awesome but was a little boring!

I had six laps and by the second one i was thinking i could be having more fun in my m3 that was sitting in the car park

I had one for about three years and there was no 007 in me, will check the contents of the vasalene pot to confirm. Not really the car for a track day but kin great on long journeys and it would take a good car to get past one. Downside is the spares, over 2.5k for a new lower valance and £185 for one steering joint.. As the bloke at the spares counter said " if you cant take a joke dont join in"

Was the Lambo not built or designed by Audi and contained parts from them.

Another suprising motor is the Bentley Continental GT,for a big motor they go well with that W12 in them, again more VAG than Bentley.

yeah, your right, i thought so too. They use the same v10 and dsg box and most of the running gear is simalar. Chassis in the r8 is a bit special, but theyre both ali.
