A friend of mine has just bought a Marlin that is going to be used for off road trials.

He wanted to make a skid plate to protect the fuel tank from grounding out.

Today he bought up a load of 10mm plate & some 150mm x 150mm x 10mm box section

I asked him if he thought the materials were going to be man enough for the job :D

He explained that he wanted to kill 2 birds with 1 stone & the skid plate would also act as rear balast weight ( Going to fill the box section with concrete ! )

Well by the time that lot was welded together you can safely say that mission was complete .... Well looking at the way his legs were buckling as he carried it out to his car :D

Felt so wrong adding all of that weight to a Marlin, made me feel all naughty :o

A few years ago I used to do H frame fab work for a pair of banger racers that used to run at Arena. I pulled in to their yard one morning to find them standing a granada upright on it's nose to pour concreate down both sills.

I can well imagine that there are no holds barred in the world of banger racing

Always fancied having a crack at that malarkey although I doubt it's as much fun as it looks, well it probably is if you have a bit of a mental streak :D

Owned a few bangers though :o :o
