digi dash options?

ok who has got a digi dash thingy? i orignaly was going to go new dials as my sierra one was peeling away on the dial paint :( but cable speedos are a pain/expensive to cal and eletronic dials bundeled with matching gauges are not cheap tbh so i was looking for a tiny speedo and dials seprate but it looks as if i can get a whole digi dash for about the same price as a stand alone digi dash
acewell 3000 series looked better than the trail tech vapor as it does fuel but how to thay work on a running car? and any iva issues?

i had a look in the iva manual and it says

Note 1: The speedometer must be of a type suitable for M1 vehicle use. The types manufactured for bicycles, racing only, those that rely on GPS or those that require switching as a separate function to that of operating the vehicle or those that have a separate power source from the vehicle or where they do not operate as an automatic function when the vehicle is driven are not permitted. Where the device is in question the presenter may provide evidence as to the suitability of the device for road use from the manufacturer of the device

There is loads of choice Baz, depending on budget - all the ones i've seen so far work well but do gain quality with price. The only thing i would add for IVA, if the speedometer is digital you are not supposed to be able to change it from mph to kph readout. They will ask if you are able to change it, you either say its fixed at mph and cannot be changed (they wont go through the manual) or temporarily remove or cover the 2 buttons used to configure the display. For the fuel sender the units tend to be calibrated for bikes and you get 2 settings 0-100 or 0-500 ohms, if i remember right the sierra is 0-230 ohms. Some will let you set the range manually for the sender.

I got an acewell for £35, unused! Yet to do anything with it, it's meant for bikes so I am not so sure how the pickup will be calibrated.

I fitted a koso rx2n last year when i upgraded my engine, still happy with it after a summers use and i tend to get bored quite easily!

It came with an electronic sender that fits the square drive on a type 9

For the fuel sender the units tend to be calibrated for bikes and you get 2 settings 0-100 or 0-500 ohms, if i remember right the sierra is 0-230 ohms. Some will let you set the range manually for the sender.

i dont think it woud have worked with what ever i was going to fit anyway or not so good fit for my new ally tank and it was 20 years old so
was also on my shoping list for the money pit :(

I have got a Acewell in mine. Certain ones are sold as fully iva compliant. Fuel gauge has 3 different ranges either 0 ohms full or empty can be set. The one I have can also read an input from a gearbox drive instead of magnets if you buy a sender. Really pleased with it and easy to install. Have a look in my photobucket for pics of the Acewell.

There was an article in PPC a few months back re digi dash's available. If I remember I'll scan it in & mail it to you (though my brain is a bit sieve-like!)

Another vote for Koso RX2N... very clever dash with extras like 0-60mph timers and 1/4 mile timers, top speed, high rpm etc. All sensors included.

This is the same 1 i have and its IVA compatable.
I Havenit fitted it yet but had a good read of the instructions and it seems easy enough to fit and configure.

I have had mine for about 3 years and no problems, just tell Russ what you want ie bike or car engine and job done. I have the indicator lamps as well as shown in previous pic.
