Hi guys, my name is Michael- a soon to be adict lol :D

Im New to the Haynes Roadster world, have spent alot of time over the last 2-3 weeks reading the book and checking out the forum gathering advice. There is alot of knowledge and experience on here. Would like to get to know you guys a bit better and get advice through out the build.

Hope to get started with the build very soon, So far i have made a start to the Build Table. Still to get my steel to make a start.

I think it may be beneficial for me to attend some kit car type shows for some inspiration. Is there any upcoming shows that would be good for me to attend? im located in Scotland (Fife- not too far from knockhill), would be willing to do some travelling.

Just wondering if there are any builders nearby where i live?

I have varioous questions but will post them in the correct areas.

There's a couple of guys over in the west, not sure about in the east though.

Most shows are down south, I think the first of the year is Stoneligh..

Hi Michael and welcome to the funny farm, I think you will find there are quite a few builders north of the border, good luck with your build and just remember the only silly question is the one you didn't ask

Hi Michael,
Good luck with your build and welcome to the "Mad House":D
What donor are you going to use? where I am sierra's are like hens teeth so we decided to go for the MX5 route (there are four of us building cars at the moment:eek: ). Without a doubt if theres anything you need it'll be on this forum or just a post away.
Again good luck with your build Johno

Hi johno,

Thank,
I will be going down the MX5 route aswell, currently have the 1.6 Eunos roadster (Jap import) as a donor.

How far into your build are you?
Has there been many stumbling blocks you have come across so far that i should be aware of :)

Hi again,
I have 1991 1.6 which I haven't stripped yet but Tony has a 1991 Eunos which has been gutted and the parts required have been used to set up all our builds. Luke has removed his diff and front and rear uprights which we used to set up the car also.
Yeah we made a few mistakes ie.. pedal thicknesses, steering extensions but we got over them. :o What I learnt the most is the book is only a guide and common sense prevails. Use the search function on this forum for every aspect of the build (wish I had done this sooner) and ask for any advice on any part of the build if not sure.

Ohh..where am I with my build,
1, Chassis complete and welded and now ready for undercoat (took 2 days to clean it)..:(
2, Roll bar bent and tacked (bit different to others).
3, Pedal box and pedals fabricated and part painted.
4, Wishbones fabricated and painted.
5, Engine fitted and mounts fabricated.
6, Gearbox mount fabricated.
7, Diff mounts fabricated.
8, Handbrake brackets fabricated.
If I can help in any way don't hesitate to ask...Johno

hi michael,

If your going down the mx5 route you should arrange to go and see spud. He is in Hartlepool - 2-3 hrs down the road but a lot closer than the kit car shows. You will be able to see the development car and he will probably take you for a spin in the deminstrator. (a sure way of becoming hooked)

Good luck with your build

David

That said, try to type in the keywords into the search. Many questions have been already answered many times. Search works especially well with tube and plate numbers, such as CP24 :-)
