View Full Version : stoneleigh show, who's going?

Davey

As the title says really, is anyone going to Stoneleigh and if so are you camping there? We're hoping to go this year and it would be good to meet up with fellow builders and perhaps set up camp as a group again. We have a big Iveco Daily camper with a decent sized awning we can put up if the weather isn't so good so there will be a dry place to congregate other than the bars but bring your own beer.

If it's as cold as it was last year you want thermals, ok during the day but it was 'kin cold at night......tents are a daft way to go camping if you ask me, campers are far more civilised and warmer:D

The roadster won't be quite ready, due to my mums cancer coming back and her passing away a few weeks ago.

So the tin top will have to do or i my go up on my new bike.

SWMBO doesn't fancy it this year so it'll probably be just me going on the Monday in the oil burning Focus.

Fuel at £1.50 a ltr might cock things up for most people attending shows, hell when I started riding bikes at 16 I could run my ped all week on a fiver and that included 2 stroke oil.

Wife thinks its a good idea, however my mondeo has just killed an injector by the look of it and they flush out bank accounts faster than a man in a black mask.

There is something about camping on a bank holiday weekend that does not appeal to me we all know that bank holidays always rain

The first year that I went to the show, AshG had a garden gazebo, it rained that year, but it was a great meeting point for everyone to come and gather for a beer and BBQ and shelter from the rain. I am not sure it I will will be up this year, on the account that I am getting married in September and costs seem to be running away as always. I dont even know the 200 guests that are invited...! Also just had a large repair bill for the car to replace the coils, plugs, recovery etc following an engine flood.

Its a shame because last year I met up with Eternal and the guys who have been on the forum as long as me. was really looking forward to catching up with a few beers at the CKC event.

Currently on a camp site East of Peterborough but hoping to pop into the Stoneleigh show on our way home tomorrow for a couple of hours, got some shopping to do . Went into Halfrauds today to see what was available in DVD head units with 7" screens for the camper van and came out with £300 worth of Ripspeed DVD unit for £180 and a £10 discount voucher so spending money is a little less for tomorrow.

Was very good. I went to try and get some ideas for building my Haynes. After walking round for about 4 hours and not finding any iv decided to sack it off and have ordered a tiger Avon kit. I will be selling alot of my bits. Was disappointed but have made a better decision to build a tiger.

I spent some cash aswell but couldnt find Alot of the bits i was hoping to get
Had a nice day tho

i went yesterday and had a bit of a spending session :( but i have got lots of bits i needed :) and still managed to forget to buy a few odds and ends
seen two "owners" roadsters there on the locost owners pitch. one looked very much like ashes and i take it the other one was tillys (vtec engine swap)
quiet a few stands where missing and it seems to be a bit sign of the times.
agm was there sharing a stand with furore cars with one of the body sets thay supply (in yellow) and quality looked realy good but that was the only roadster parts i could see for sale apart from sets of shocks.
as i was on more of a shopping mission i didnt have time to go round all the show but overall looked good.
i think it would have been realy busy if the wether had been a little better of late and there was lots of talk of nearly not coming waiting in the que to get in first thing in the morning.
the amount of europian people there was quiet a suprise from last time i went i wounder if the exchange rate has somthing to do with it?

I chickened out in the end, we were on the way back from P'boro when it started to rain and as it was £15 entry per person I just didn't fancy spending £30 to spend a couple of hours wandering around in the rain and spend money on stuff I'm not in desperate need of. I will try to make one of the other shows later in the year, perhaps Stafford?

Stafford show lol IF it is on again this year after last year's shambolic show and I seriously doubt it will be I would say stay at home and work on your build. Half the hall was empty and no that is not an exaggeration, you could have had a game of football in there except that there where not enough people to make two full teams! I almost asked for my money back at the door for wasting my time!!!!
