Selling parts on ebay

Hi

I have seen a few posts by people saying they actually made money when they sold the unwanted parts from their donor vehicle on ebay.

Do you think there is money to be made buying cheap spares or repair cars on ebay and selling them in bits? Has anyone tried this as a money making venture?

If you pick the right cars there is money to be made.
It's hard work, messy, and you need a lot of space to do it though.

I have broken a number of cars for parts rather than try to sell them on.

Usually more than make back my investment, but it can be hit or miss.

Totally agree but it takes time and you just spend it in dribs and draps so you never see the benefit.

I reckon the only way is to pick on a model of car and stick with it. Things like porche get stripped to the last nut and bolt, the guys doing them seem to waste nothing and sell the lot. The local car breakers must crush 90% of the cars they get in because there seems to be no demand for anything other than the stuff that has a common problem.

When i was in my college days i used to stip cars,

We used to race Nissan 200sx's in EuroDrift myself and 2 friends rented an old aircraft hangar and traveled all around the country buying them for around 200-300 for mot fails. After we got them back on the trailer we would stip them and sell all the parts on ebay and to the owners forum. The good thing about doing the 200sx was we used them ourself so no parts cost for us. All the Bits went very fast and the left over shells were great for when people crashed and needed to reshell them.

If i was doing it again i would look to see what cars people are racing at the moment and focus on those.
