Had no idea there were so many seven kits on the market.

it could have somthing to do with the cost,simplicy and getting back to bare bones of motoring
bit like a road going go-kart there is little like it in turms of raw feel in the real car and non 7 kitcar market.
a few new kit are coming into the market now to fill a gap as almost all the front engine rear wheel drive cars have all but gone in the main streem of doners

I think what makes a 7 is the fact that it is RWD with the long nose and it being light weight. If you make it FWD, taller and make it look less light weight I'm not sure you could call it a 7.

was there not some real old 7 kits based on a r4-mk1 r5 renault drive train
