I'm not that into bikes but I'd love to own this and am wondering what it is? Doesn't look like a Harley.

Looks to me like an old sunbeam shaft driven S7, made in about 1948 ish. I had a later version of one an S8

As kids we used to get our hands on dozens of bikes like this for as little as £30. It would be butcherd in to one of two things, it would either get clip ons and rear sets < cafe racers > or straight bars, knobbly tyres and built into a sort of flat tracker. All the tin work would get ripped off and binned , resto boys would of had a heart attack. Nothing was sacred and looking at this made me recap on some of the stuff that we had over the years, makers names a lot of people never heard of, Aerial, Cotton, Norman, royal enfield, velocette, ajs, matchless, greeves, villiers, excellsior and loads of others. Then all the hybyd stuff
Norvin, triton, tribsa and so on. I am going to be frank here and admit they were all crap compared to the jap stuff but they were nice in a quirky sort of way Alas no more.

At 5k someone has lost a shed load of dosh. A bit like buying a secondhand roadster for 3 or 4 grand after its cost all of that in bits plus 10k worth of time:rolleyes: The real winner is the buyer at 5k
