Hi, All after starting my project Dec 2010 i can announce my car passed its IVA today first time out!
Had a few little niggles but managed to sort them out, I have to say the examiner was a really nice guy and let me adjust a few things to get them sorted.
My main concerns were the accuracy of the speedo, noise test, front to rear brake balance, emissions and rear view visibility but they all passed with with no problems.
I would advise you take a load of tools, extra bits of trim and nut covers, i missed a couple of things that classed a sharp edge and luckily the examiner let me sort the bits out.
Now to try and work out the dvla registration form

Well done Rich :)
Your build is looking very smart, I bet you were well happy with how the day went.
Taking a load of tools & spare bits of trim is a great bit of advice.
Here's hoping that you soon get the DVLA registration sorted & you can really enjoy driving the Roadster.

WOW... lovely looking car Rich.
How big was the grin on your face when she passed:D
How long did it take to build her from start to finish roughly and what was the worst job? (just wanna know if I got to face that bit yet:eek: )
Seriously well done, she's a credit to you (lucky bugger).
Only hope the weather brightens up for you to enjoy her...:)

Yep the examiner picked up on the fog light, luckily he let me pack it out with some trim, it's just the fog light that needs to sit vertical
Also he picked up on my instruments, as they are fixed to the steering column behind the wheel I thought it would be exempt from the sphere test, however as the car doesn't have a windscreen he picked up on the exposed wiring connector behind the instruments and had to cover it.
As these were the only faults and minor he was happy to let me sort them on the day
The worst part of the build was fitting the rear and side panels, cutting into brand new bodywork is not fun! Managed to get them to fit somewhere near but I could have done better with a bit of practice
Still a long list to do on the car, need to get the suspension set up somewhere near and have got hold of some 3M carbon fibre vinal wrap to do the dash and tunnell

Fantastic! Have you taken it on that all important first legal drive yet? Or waiting for some decent weather?
Seeing another one finished definitely gives me more encouragement to get mine done. Maybe a few more years...

Hey a fellow Tammy! Thanks Tony.
Not yet Oscar
Filled the forms out, just waiting for the credit card to clear and get some insurance sorted. Then hopefully DVLA can send me a reg!

Congratulations on your success.
Having gone through the same thing recently I can relate to the stressful part, in fact probably one of the more stressful things one will go through, brought all on by oneself of course, but the car is worth it.
Excellent job
