hi guys, just looking at doing fuel tank and it is quite small and dont seem to be able to find fuel sender small enough. Any body done one that size can you point me in right direction! Also does it matter which way fuel outlet points, to front,rear which you think would be best as you accelerate fuel goes in that same way or just point it to where you want fuel lines to go.
Also do you need to have beaded outlet pipes so fuel lines dont come off?

It's easy enough to shorten the arm on a fuel sender if it's too long.
I don't think it matters too much which way the outlets point, I'd position them in the most convenient location/direction for the fuel line routing.
If you're worried about fuel slosh, it's common to weld in baffles and add a pot on the bottom to take the outlet from like Kev did on mine:

And you definitely want either barbs, or a flared end or something to stop the pipes falling off!

If you're running carbs, you have float chambers to assist with any pressure deviations from the fuel supply. If you're running injectors, you'll have a swirl pot anyway.

I've not barbed / beaded my fuel tank outlet as its not pressurised and I've not had any problems in a year of running. Anything after the pump is beaded, as its pressurised after that.

I used the original sierra sender in a book spec tank the pickup needs extending slightly to reach the bottom of the tank I took the filter off extended it with the 10mm copper tube that I used as fuel lines the replaced the filter on the end if I recall it only needs extending by about 30mm think there may be a pic on my Flickr you might have to zoom in though

cheers for replies, I didn't have complete donor only bought bits needed so will be buying fuel sender and gauge, and have seen today that there are 2 types, float and dip tube does it matter which one. I will be running bike carbs if that makes any difference?
