Has anyone used a Type E box for their Roadster build? Is the mounting arrangement similar to the Type 9?

Cheers - already noted down the Burton Power website as something that looks like a good source of info! Wanted to find someone with practical experience if possible!

its what is called a rocket box sometimes the front main case is what the type9 is based on and the tail end is smaller/shorter as it has no 5th speed.

irrc the mount point is ferther back on a type9. it was a popular mod to take out a 4speed and fit a type9 in its place on mk1/2 escort

in my opinion unless you are fitting up to a smaller engine your going to miss the overdrive ratio of the 5th gear as 4th is 1:1 in both boxes

build wise a type9 chassis should take it fine but you will need to move the gearbox mount and im not sure if the gear stick will be in the same place
also your prop will need to be longer

Good info there - cheers! I'd seen the 'rocket box' mentioned but wasn't sure what it was. I've noticed that the RS2000 (and perhaps RS1600?) had the 'rocket box' but I assume with different ratios?

My chassis is actually to fit an MT75 box, and I have one of those in the garage, but apparently the E is lighter - so might go with that. My engine is a 1.6 Pinto - so won't be hugely powerful anyway.
