I think it's well settled -- if you're running a standard downdraft carburettor, you have a hole in the bonnet for a chrome or foam filter. A way to avoid it is a set of sidedrafts, or bike carbs.

i think you can use the same ignition set up you have for bike carbs but most will use megajolt or (I'm waiting for Nodiz from m-tech to come out next month).

I'm planning to do motorbike carbs on a pinto too - potentially permanently. How do you go about getting a manifold made to suit the carbs?

I have seen the manifold kits on eBay I think the kit is about 60 and the kit all welded up is about 130

I believe "fastdan" on Locostbuilders does all that sort of thing. Think he has a website as well.

I held the carbs in front of the engine, in around the right place I wanted them (bowls flat, good intake lengths). Propped them in place and took some measurements. Then I made a wooden jig, to which I fitted my manifold plate, I cut some tubes to suit. Took a whole day, but does the job.

I know there has been loads said about this already but I'm still unsure?
If I were to use a 1.6 CVH that normally runs a single carb, would I have to change to a megajolt or could I use the existing ignition system?
I've also got a 2.0 pinto EFI same question?
Sorry for being thick.

Generally, you need Megajolt, as most Sierra carbs are electronically controlled and have a huge multiplug on them. The factory ECU controls both the carb and ignition, so you need an aftermarket system if you want to separate these concerns. Same with injection.
