Just got my tank fabbed up with swirl pot as I'm running a 2.0i DOHC, however I do not have the original sender or pump - my intention was to use the original fuel gauge as part of the std sierra cluster

Any suggestions as to what set-up to use? I've seen the high pressure pump that Ash and a few other suggest, just wondering what sender to use and how to hook up the entire system so it mimics the original set-up

Thanks

The tank unit on the Sierra will fit the flat tank on the car it came from and will be difficult to fit into a fabbed tank, you will have to fab a new arm and with it outside your new tank make the gauge read full and empty when the wiring is all rigged up or alternatively a new bespoke unit.

I used the sender from my carbed Sierra pretty much without modifications. I cut off the colvoluted, rusted cap from the fuel tube that holds the reostat itself and welded a nut to it, and made a flat flange with the ETB Instruments compatible mounting (6 holes, 60.4 mm PCD). The range of the movement of the float is very close to what's needed for a book tank. I haven't had the tank filled up to the brim to test how the upper position worked out, but outside tests showed it should be fine (I hooked up the sender to the Sierra gauge to test). The lower limit is definitely fine.

if you can get the sierras full and empty restences you may be able to find a aftermarket sender
usualy there are a few common ranges
my one is 30-190 ohm that is very common

or there are little boxes that can convert senders or use pull up and pull down resisters but thats a bit of a mine field

new gauge and sender packs are not that expensive and well worth a look
