I am wondering what is the best way of securing the tank in my car. I am using a Grp rear end.

What have people done?

hi Dave....I think most peeps are using steel or ally straps along with bike inner tube as a protective anti vibe cushion.....will be the way I am doing it.

I have bought some aluminium to make the supports but I am wondering the best way to attach them. If I use coach bolts to the rear of the chassis where it meets up with grp will it cause problems with fitting the rear panel?

Rivnuts are good for fitting/fixing most things to the chassis, look prettier too.

M & S nuts and bolts do any amount of them at Newburn/Lemington

Hi Paul (sorry Dave for this wee threadjack) getting my head around the wiring like having to splice in the 200sx's engine/ecu loom.....i am getting there with a little help from a guy on Driftworks who is a demigod of the ca18det engine...just got a good crank off ebay with a new spigot bearing (worth £9 alone) for the princely sum of £15:eek: so the crank was 6 notes:cool: and only in Sunderland

Take a look at johnos (http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=75026&postcount=95) build thread, I've done similar but no fancy bracket just drilled the grp bar and used a bit of studding.

I felt that bent Ali straps were to flimsey

I know the book shows a tab bent over for the tank straps with a bolt through to the chassis but as soon as you tighten the thing up the tap will straighten out and not really tighten the tank down. If the method used on commercials was used it would be dead simple to re tighten at any time because you would only need to tighten the nuts from under the car. You would only need to weld the studding straight to the strap and there would be no tab trying to pull out straight. just thoughts

You could use 25 x 3mm flat bar around the tank and put 2 25x25 angle on the ends and bolt through, agricutrural but strong.:D
