Piston Rod for Master Cylinder

Hi All,

I know i'm asking a lot of questions at the moment your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm just looking into what I need to make the piston rod for the brake master cylinder and I seem to remember someone saying you can use an M8 bolt but then i've read somewhere else to use an M6 bolt of over 6" in lenthgh and cut it down..

Surely an M8 is 8mm and an M6 6mm just wondered what everyone else has used?

I used a piece of M8 rod and a long nut. It works. Sierra's vacuum has a ~10 mm stud with a screwed on 6 mm spherical nub.

As you can see, I also made my own clevis pins for laughs, out of a 6 mm rod and M6 washer :-)

I used a m8 clevis and an m8 bolt in the end with a lock nut if you use a bolt rather than a machine screw you can use the shank as the plunger which looks a bit nicer than threads think I have some pics on my Flickr
