U can file a court action against him as long as u know his name. Also I would do it in the town where he lives as it will be in the paper then also.

Hello Micheal,
I have not done a runner, im working as hard as i can to get the rest of your money together.
I paid you £260 so far, and sent you a cheque from my boss for the remainder which you said you didnt recieve. I only had contact with him last week to ask him to cancel the cheque. I have the weight of the world on my shoulders, so i havent been checking emails or coming on here as everybody hates me, it just makes me feel more like doing something stupid so im beavering away in the background trying to get things together rather than promise any more datess that i cant make. I never planned to "rip off" anyone and i know i have broken dates i have set to pay off the rest. Everytime i get the money together, i get another bailiff knocking on the door. I cant even take a tenner out of the cash machine without asking the bank for permission. Its coming to you i assure. I have had a payment request from paypal for the original balance so i dont know whats going on there.
Yeah im a loser and i cant do anything right, makes me sort of wonder whats the point. I feel like going up to the loft and opening the gun cabinet, seems like my only option at the moment. Im getting about ten calls a day for money owed from the business, including travel im working 68 hours a week, i now weigh less than 9 stone and im living off beans and toast to pay off my debts. And i am trying, i dont know what else i can do.
If you want to talk to me and If anyone else needs to get hold of me for something ive forgotten ( pretty sure i know who i owe what to tho) or just to have a pop you can get hold of me on 07752254351

This is very disheartening to read, one of the things I really liked about this forum was its community spirit and things like this only serve to damage that and the trust we put in other suppliers, which are mostly small businesses supplying a niche market which in the current climate can only be extremely challenging.
Just one of the prime reasons for choosing the Haynes is the option to build it on a budget surely, which puts a kit car in reach of those who may not have surplus disposable income (that's me for sure).
I'm prepared to be 'flamed' for this but if this is an isolated case then wouldn't it be nice if one of the remaining suppliers stepped in and offered replacements at a heavily discounted price, I for one would be happy to make a donation.
It's a shame to see someone's build threatened through no fault of their own, as I said at the beginning this is a bit of a community and surely everyone could get together on this one :)
If on the other hand this is just the tip of the iceberg then I doubt there is much we can do :(
NB I should just mention that what I've said above is based on 'the face of it' I don't know full details of the individual transaction.
Whatever happens mgglep, I wish you the best of luck with both the current situation and your build.

Good on you for replying Nathan,
I know how much you put into that venture from when we spoke, its a sign of the times that people making luxury or bespoke items just cant make enough money to survive.
there will always be problems and unfortunately this what were seeing here isnt nathans fault its just a side effect of the failure of the business, people making it personal doesnt help.

listen...I know both Nathan and Andy personally and they tried really hard to keep saturn/nts above water, but they both succombed to the present economic climate which is very difficult to survive in......Nathan has had a real bad time of it in particular and I'm sure he will honor all debts, but I will say, this is not the place to have a "pop" at each other, if there is bad blood there, I'm sure Nathan is trying hard to mop it up.

You should not beat yourself up over this Nathan. There have been bigger and better outfits than yours hitting troubled times, some of the best buisness men in the country have lost the shirts off their backs on the way to greater fortunes. As far as being hated I dont think you could get further from the truth. You could make life a lot easier for yourself though if you just kept people updated so they know whats going on and that costs nothing.

ok this is obviously getting very heated, I just want to clarify a couple of things, first off Nathan and myself were obviously typing at the same time so both our posts were made without seeing the other.
What I was trying to promote was a positive way forward.
On one hand I tried very hard to note the difficulties that a business trying to provide services in a niche market to customers who are 'building to a budget' coupled with the current climate face.
On the flip side I also tried to note how damaging it can be for an individual to lose out due to a business failure.
I was very careful to try and not criticise anyone personally, business failures these day are extremely common, even in affluent markets, this does not necessarily reflect on the proprietor of the business but a combination of circumstances that quite possibly are beyond their control.
After I 'posted' my reply I read Nathan's, and others, I was concerned that my comments may have been misconstrued so first off I rang Nathan who answered first time. We had a 20 minute chat about various things and we have a few things in common, I'm not going into further details here as its off subject but hope you get everything sorted Nathan.
One thing, no one has commented on is my original proposal, can we not club together as a community and help to fix this?
Nathan is in a tough place and could use some support, Michael is also in a predicament and could also use some help, these were the sentiments of my post which seem to have been lost in the politics.
At no point have I taken sides in this but rather seen an unfortunate situation which could use a little help.
Positive comments please.
(no doubt the time its taken me to write this there's prob loads more replies which make it out of context)

I with Robo on this that communication has been the let down really.Anyway for an idea what if Nathan can negotiate with Andy who now has the moulds to take the money refunded so far to mgglep for materials to make his bodywork and then Nathan pays andy the remainder. That way mgglep will get his bodywork and andy also gets some business.

TY Robo and Ozzy, we're moving forward :) what the current businesses don't realise is they're missing out on a huge marketing plug here, what better publicity than customer service!
Sorry if I've got a bit OTT on this one but the forum's at its best when its got the community spirit :)

D.O.S mine was just a notion put out there as a possible solution. I dont think you will find any takers for the so called marketing plug because at the end of the day they dont make that much profit on bodywork I believe so it would cost them a fair whack for your plug idea. And fair or not I believe u make ur bed u lie in it. All credit to Nathan for trying to make a go of it and I do recall the posts where he said he was going to honour goods and services owed so kudos to him for having balls to do so. Like I said originally communication goes a long way to helping alleviate someones feeling they have been ripped off.

Head up Nathan, we all have dark times that we have to ride out and overcome. The world is a difficult place at the moment for a lot of people including yourself.
I think you can be very proud of yourself for giving back as much money as you could.
Don't really know what else to say other than look after yourself:)

Hi Ozzy, I appreciate your notion as a point of progress, any positive ways forward can only be good and investigated as such.
I think we're splintering into different discussions now, I have to respectfully disagree with regards to the marketing plug, consumer confidence is based on trust which can only be demonstrated by experience, I agree a one off would be 'at cost' which would mean them not earning anything, however, some publicity you just cant buy. I believe it would be a perfect coup for a newcomer in the bodywork business, and they could also negotiate to use the build pics for future marketing.
With regards to Nathan, as I've said I bear no criticism towards him, he tried to start a business based on his skill sets in the most difficult circumstances, I agree with you in your heads up 100% for giving it a go Nathan, business's failing does not relate to personal failure, as per the conversation I had with him earlier, heads up Nath, just keep talking.
My original notion still stands tho, shame there's not many takers.

OK, I'm going to start by saying I have met both Nathan and Michael in person over the last 12 months.
They're both good men.
I can totally understand Michael's frustration, becuase I would be very frustrated myself in the same situation. I've also met his misses and his little'un so I can appreciate that every penny spent on his Roadster is precious. Losing money on an unfulfilled order could jeopardise his whole project and that would be a very hard thing to get your head around IMO.
On the flip side, I've met Nathan before and after NTS and I have seen the difference the business has made to him. I have faith in Nathan sticking to his word of settling his outstanding debt but I could see what strain he's under when he was shutting up shop. I have previously said on this forum that I believed that Nathan would sort things out with Michael. Nathan has gone out of his way to help others during NTS's lifetime, which in my mind is a very good picture of what the man is like.
I think the only Roadster specific bodywork Michael requires now is the rear and side panels.
Oh, and keep that cabinet locked Nathan. That's never a route you should consider!

Hello Michael,
I've been trying to pm you, can you please let me know which panels are required to complete.
Thanks........AndyH
