Ok this just prompted a thought that might be possible without the admin intervention, is it possible to move all the genuine posts out of the announcements section and into say a sticky in another forum on a temp basis to preserve and protect them.

This would make the announcements section clear for the spammers and might make it easier to empty the trash.

Once a permanent solution is found they could be moved back.

It's just a thought, again Ash/TT would have to confirm viability.

Just a thought but is there anything we can do that would actually hurt the spammers back such as contacting any of the companies they seem to be representing ?

Your not likely to hurt them much and in some cases their posts are a veil for something other than it appears.
