Gents

Well, after an interesting and frustrating day, I failed the first attempted at the IVA, but surprising, not on the items I was concern about.

If was a real shame, that on the day, the car decided to overheat, thus suspending the following tests:

02B - Metered Emissions
05 - Steering Effort
08 - In-Direct Vision (although I snapped off the interior mirror in transit - Woops)
25 - Headlamps

Luckily, the inspector advised that he had no concerns over these items and would look at them on the re-test.

However on a positive

The only real items I failed on are:

Side repeaters not on rear arches - kind of new this but took a chance!
Exterior projections on exhaust mount - radius to be filed onto exhaust can mount
Protective steering - minor alteration required (although modified during the test and passed)
Front Flexi brake hoses to be clipped to upper wishbone
Master cylinder copper brake pipe kinked / flattened to front wheel
Fuel tank not full of fuel preventing the calculations to be completed on the brake tests due to not having the correct weight (However he said the brakes over performed and had not seen such good results!)

There where generally a few bits he was not keen on, but passed with advice on the rules

Remove Tax disc holder
LSD Diff made knocking noise on brake testing- he said I may need to consider changing for standard type but this was only advise

Unlucky spike, you'll still be on the road for summer?

whats the waiting time on the re-inspection?

Tough Spike--so near yet so far.
Whats the score on re test -do you need to pay more for it?

Also what that about repeaters on rear arches?

Yeah the repeater, I noticed Jason had these on the wings, is it the preferred location?

I recon you can get that all sorted quickly ;)

Hey twin, i'm in Lancs and i go to Scotland once a week. Can i come and see your build some time?

I always stop at the Tesco on the M6 for fuel its very handy!!! ;)

The retest is only £90, he reckons about 2 - 3 weeks notice is required. Aiming for 6 weeks to completed and get it passed!

Yeah sure, detour past Morrisons for petrol and you will pass right by me ;)

I thought you could do a retest within 2 weeks for less than 90? Has that changed?

Their function is to notify the driver driving parallel to you to the left or to the right of you. So the further forward, the better. Caterham and Westfield position their side repeaters on front wings now. The position on the front of rear arches passes the formal requirements, but only just, and it is not really rational, as the repeaters then are closer to the rear indicators than the front of the car. I put mine in on the sides of the scuttle, but then I will not have to pass the British IVA. Fingers crossed!

Well done, not a bad fail

What do you need to do here 'Front Flexi brake hoses to be clipped to upper wishbone'? Is that to prevent rubbing?
