after contemplating for a while and looking at the options for the rear diff on the mx5 I really liked the idea of talons diff cover!! thinking about heat transfer I studied the diff and thought could I bolt it in my lathe and shave 5mm and make a plate to sandwich in between so I gave it a go seems to of worked and you still use the old ali cover so correct oil level and breather are in place

Nice that's pretty much what I was talking about a while ago but my diff is already mounted so didn't bother with it. Ill know what to do if my diff gives up now though!

Cheers

Thats a nice version of Phils idea. Do you know if there is enough meat to shave 10mm off instead for a thicker plate.?

10mm should be ok if you look at my build pics there is a pic on there of the cover before i removed the arms and put it on the lathe the lip it started with was 5mm, the reason why i kept it to 5mm as phils plate is 5mm and it took six hours to make a bracket to hold in the lathe and take the 5mm off!!!

Got to apologise Dualist I had a look at the diff cover tonight and 5mm is the limit to shave it down by otherwise you would hit into the driveshaft seals
