could always cut a hole in the bottom plate, somehow secure the baffle plate wherever poss then weld on a swirl pot, both problems solved, baffle plate made redundant & fuel starvation won,t arise:)

i gave in i dont have time to make another one before exeter so i have rung martin at mk engineering and he kindly offered to make me one in exchange for some of my penny things that i keep getting for turning up at that strange multi story building every monday to friday.

dude,

if you know where the baffle is, drill a hole in each side of the tank and plug weld the thing in place.

if you've got no argon, gas weld it

If it was just the gas that was holding you back, I'm sure Fred would have let you use the college kit to weld it back up...
