Your thoughts were probably the same as mine when I first saw the kit ... " How the bloody hell am I going to solder those tiny comonents
Definitely scared myself when I opened the packets!

The surface mount parts are about 1.5mmx3mmx1mm - sounds tiny but with a good magnifier and tweezers it is a lot easier than it sounds. Here is an example (from the autosport labs website) of one of the resistors on the hard rev limiter voard being fitted -

Where did you get the kit ans how much did it cost?

I bought mine direct from the Autosportlabs site in the USA

Currently about $89 + shipping for the basic DIY kit

Autosport labs USA
Some good info on this site too :)

You can buy ready assembled in the UK from triggerwheels, but it is likely to set you back about £175

The exchange rate is not too bad at the moment, Paypal will give you a decent rate..............Unlike my credit card issuer & my bank  ;)

Probably get a kit with all the bells & whistles (USA) for about the £100 mark :)

I got my kit from Autosport Labs shipped from the USA. Cost was £90 inc shipping for the V4 TPS Megajolt kit, with case mounting flanges, hard rev limiter kit, serial cable and sequential shift light kit. Lucklily didn't get stung for any import costs either.

Hi again Ronnie could you tell me what I would need to order as I not up to speed with the black art of electronics more of a lump hammer and anglegrinder man.I will be starting with 1600 pinto 2000 later with gsxr carbs

you will need megajolt light junior v4 TPS version for a car engine on bike carbs.

it is also worth getting the hard cut rev limiter kit at the same time to save the postage.

Now the GULP

Do i buy the ready made up kit from Triggerwheels or go for the Autolabs kit & make it myself?

is it easy to source the other bits that i,d need if i go the DIY route, need Edis 4 i believe...... coil pack .....anything else?

or would it be easier to buy the whole lot from Triggerwheels?

opinions please.......

cheers
andy

andy i will build it for you if you dont want to. if you have got the same carbs as me you will need to re-jet them. when they tuned my carbs they managed to get away with reshaping the needles but he said if my engine had been any more than a 1.6 then the jets would have needed drilling out as he took as much off the needles a he possibly could.

you need

mjolt
edis4
coil pack with ht leads
trigger wheel
throttle position sensor
VR Sensor

you can buy it all of www.triggerwheels.com but its much more fun to hunt round and get a bargain. most ford mondeo and escort coil packs will work so all you will really need to hunt for is the edis4 which are not too hard to find tbh. There is a list on the autosport labs website telling you what cars the edis4 was fitted to so you should be able to find one in the breakers for harvest.
