If your looking for some more heat to try again, then get yourself a bottle of propane and a blowlamp for it. I picked one up a few years ago from machine mart fo £30 which was a 'cheap' unbranded Sievert unit- they now sell the proper branded ones for £80. You can get lots of interchangeable burners so they are very useful for that sort of work and are good enough for getting steel bright red so more than up to most jobs.

Hi David, I actually have a Sievert set with 3 different burners. The biggest one they do still would not do the job adequately as it needs to be an even heat throughout the job. I could get it to go at one end but not at both ends at the same time:)
I have done the sensible thing and given up:)
I am going to go with an original manifold and then look at something totally different and possible bikeish later:D
I saw that video on you tube with the blackbird engined car. Very tempting.....

Wow - if you couldn't get it with the Sievert that you really need some heat! I am planning to try and duraweld up my bike carb manifold so that should be interesting. Did you try some firebrick around the parts ?

Sorry to hear the chop on the manifold seem so difficult, but this was the first decision I took and left it well alone. I am not going to bore you all with all the research and different motoring experts opinions but it is better to be left alone as getting rid of that bulge will cause more of head ache that is not worth any thing!

I have now got my unmodded manifold and fitted it, just doing the wiring now. I have to order some more fuel pipe but very close to attempting to start it. Hopefully this weekend will be the big day :-) Or maybe next............

I'm planning on making one too, just to get through iva emmissions, then i'll be going bike carbs.
