Thank's for confirming my own research, that is also my understanding of the current situation. :)

I was beginnig to think that I was having a senior moment, more so when I noticed that some of the relavant information, is no longer on the DVLA's web site
There used to be a well defined points system that could be used to check your age related number plate entitlememt ( Can't find it anymore though ) !!??

Was reading some interesting information on a Cobra builders forum the other night.
Got the general idea that the old point's system had been revised, every major component is now worth 1 point & 2 point's are all that is needed to qualify for an age related plate.

Have not got a clue as to how building a Cobra compares to the process of a Roadster build but they were recent posts.

Must say, the registation process seems to be a minefield to navigate & as with the IVA , forevermore evolving

A personal plate is the only reason for my desire for an age related plate & only time will tell on that one :)

Us usuall Mr Henderson is correct - hmm if so why can I not transfer a private plate onto a car that has been given an age related plate - DVLA refused as, to quote 'age related plates are NON transferable'
Therefore how can an age related plate on a kit car be transferable as age related plates are considered the same regardless of vehicle type they are issued to!

Hmmm .... a little confused here

DVLA information obtained from here

Registration transfer

& here

DVLA INF46

INF46 states that if will say on your V5C if the registration number is non transferable.

Perhaps someone who has recently registerered a build on an age related plate will have a look on their V5C to see if there is a marker on it :)

Hi Ronnie,

Yes indeed the direct.gov website stuff suggests you should be able to transfer unless the V5c states its non transferable.
Nothing on my V5c to say it's not transferable though, but the DVLA themselves insist age related plates are NON transferable.

I would be keen to here from anyone who has actually put a personal reg on a vehicle which has had age related plates as I'm still keen to get rid of the hateful reg number I seem to have got stuck with and get my 'cherished number' where it should be.....
