Well, I've just done my weekly trip to the local scrappy and Just happened to be there when he was offloading a 1994 2L mondeo glx. I can have the motor and all the gubbins attached plus the ECU and wiring for £50. I think it's pre PATS. It's a 136PS model with 155k on the clock. It sounds very sweet but I'm not sure if the smoke coming out the exhaust is condensation or oil. Clean oil and water.

Anyone got any thoughts please?

Oh and while I was there I managed to pick up 3M of 35mm mild steel bar weighing 33Kg for £8:D

bit can be got cheap for zetecs as there everywhere
would only be somthing like a head gasket anyway
the way i see it is if its out its well worth giving it a refresh while its out
i am fully rebilding mine as i found the head weeping coolent at no.1 end so it was head off and as i had to shorten the sump thort it may aswell be rebuilt as most of it was in bits anyway
my 1.8 had 95k and only thing i could find was a bit of crank end float (clutch riding i suspect) exaust valves needed reseat/recut and the rings where a bit big on the gaps but could have been left im just too much of a perfectionist

Spent the day in the scrappy and the engine is out. Also got the engine loom and DEEP pre pats ECU. Taking the box off tomorrow and the scrappy is going to drop it off at my house. £60. No brainer.

Now, who's got a 1.8 flywheel and a type 9?
