~1991, age 16ish, whilst kneeling on the floor with a gas welding rig welding a joint. I was pausing and felt a burning sensaiton on my foot. ( Remember that whilst keeping a good eye on the torch, you should also remember where the filler rod is. )
~2003, age 28, whilst welding a rear arch in my precious sapphire. Paused for a few moments. Then noticed the paint on the rear wing still bubbling. Opend boot to find flames from a pice of damping foam. Shouted to the wife in panic for a bucket of water.
~Last month age 36, whilst welding the Roadster rear roll bar. Paused to admire my handy work. Very impressed. Then noticed smoke, from the hand towel I use to clean of the oily muck from my hands. And the associated flames. It was thrown out of the garage and patted down with my gauntlets.
I have 3 CO2 extinguishers in the garage, but none of them is easy to get to... Must be more careful!
