OK still i get bugger all sparkies...so its off out tomorrow for another coil then.?? If this works i will be a happy bunny been a day of expensive things going bang in the house ie washing machine....so here's hoping....

so tapping the coil manually does not induce the spark?

Were you getting a tiny spark from the wire you were using to ground the coil?

You need to rule out the king lead too.

Do you have a meter to test the resistance of the windings of the coil.

Sure do...getting about 0.9 ohms between terminals and about 11k from center tap..

Getting a pretty large spark when tapping the ground wire

Have you tried testing cranking with just the test plug on the king lead? or just with spark plugs on the plug leads?

Didnt crank just live to coil and grounded neutral with plug on King lead...good strong spark from grounding wire when it touched the chassis

Will try the test crank with plug on king lead only...getting bambinos to bed first !!!

But no spark from the spark plug on the king lead?

You could try esting the plug in the top of the coil to rule out the king lead.

Where are you earthing the spark plug too? And have you got continuity between the cylinder head and the engine block or an earth wire form the cylinder head to the battery?

Sneaked out there ...bugger all cranking with plug on king lead aaaaarrrrrgghhhh

Yes have continuity between head and neg of battery also chassis well grounded was grounding the plug to the plenum (when other 3 plugs connected) and when it was on the king lead to the new bolt on the exhaust manifold...all checked to earth ...The plug would not fit in the coil not making contact
