Quick note on the 'Youth' bashing...... for every speeding 17year old in a corse, nova, civic, etc etc there are many many MANY more Middle aged people in BMW's, Audi's who have a couple of drinks and drive, speed, travel inches from your rear bumper just so they can over take on blind corners over the speed limit just to get that one car in front. Need I say more!?!
And no I'm not 17. I'm 27 drive a Volvo V70 AWD with a clean licence! Rant Over :) |

Its a topical discussion that can quite easily "get out of hand", I understand where you are coming from, its fair to say that NOT ALL youngsters are speeders or drink drivers, much the same as NOT ALL BMW drivers are either ..... On a lighter note........I,ve just realised that i,ve admitted I,m middle aged  :D . No worries Steve. cheers andy |

Its all gone a bit off subject here as blame is being apportioned to different age groups. I know there are as many older drivers out there as young ones that are in no fit state to drive but and its a big one, while there is probably no hope for the older ones to break their habits, by pounding the message home to the younger generation progress will be made. We live on a fast stretch of road here , there is a bend as you come into 40 limit and in the woods there is a big oak tree that has had at least 50 cars wrapped round it in the time we have been here. Its always late at night , it always has fatalities and it is always sadly cars packed with kids returning home from night clubs. Somehow the drivers always seem to live .
Its all to sad. Bob:( |
To be honest i feel a little bit hypocritical, most of us have or are about to have roadsters of upto 300bhp / ton - supercar performance, which we all like to throw around the country lanes and drive enthusiastically when the situation allows. However not through built up areas or motorways and the like and certainly not with any signs of alcohol. You cant class us in the same league but these accidents can happen to anyone. We know the risks but it's got to be the third party involvement you have got to consider.
Saying that, I haven't a clue about stats but the KitCar sector is obviously at the very bottom of the risk sector otherwise insurance premiums would not be so low for us. Does make you think about it though. It's a good debate though and does make you perceive certain things differently. AndyH |
Certain cars make folk drive like complete morons, Yesterday for instance: I was sat on Tyrrells Gift Shop window sill yesterday with the owner, having a fag and a coffee when a blue Scooby pulls out from a side turning(residential area I might add) and he floored it!!! Now about 10ft from the junction is another junction but the retard kept going and how he or she missed the old fella in his bright yellow Ford Ka amazed us both...The scooby went off whooosing and sounding totally shite like they all do, the only person impressed was the retard driving it as it's 30mph and two iffy junctions.
It aint big and it aint clever doing shit like that!! Most other scoobies you see down here seem to be driven the same way.....perhaps they should stick to radio controlled cars and leave the roads to others who don't drive like it's a rally course!!! |
