Recycling the body is different ;) (say no more)

a vehicle idenity comes from its chassis number in the eyes of the dvla if its scraped it simply meens the chassis/body does not exist anymore the reg number returns to the property of the dvla and cannot be reregisterd.

this effects the engine or its idenity in no way and it can be reused and its no. is used only to track its origin, parts build and idenity etc.

And you will get an age related number.


If you get a car with a nice number then it needs to be transfered on to retention ( needs to be within 1 year after expiry of last MOT).

You scrap the donor with it's DVLA crappy reg.

You register the Kit Car using the old V5 as proof of age of the donor parts.

You get an age related plate.

You transfer back on the nice number....

Its all done on a tot up of points, retain eight points on the score card and no q plate is needed. If the engine you want to use is added to the log book prior to the application its worth an extra point. Its all in the bit below.
