Drive output Looks to be about 2 thirds of the way down the fly from the centerline.

Fly looks about 300mm in diamiter. so that makes it 100mm from the fly center and therefore 100mm from the bottom of the block.

Engein height = 426mm from base of block
+ the affore mentioned 100mmm makes more or less 52cm.

So.

If your keeping the drive shafts flat as possible, you will need to add 52cm height over wheel center. Wheel center on 17" /2 = 8.5" + 1" for the tyre. converted to CM is near on 24cm to the wheel center.

24 + 52 = 74cm to the IDEAL height the engine top will be sitting at.

Hope all that makes sense.

Don't you just hate when things get in the way of your project. I finished removing the parts on the donor car yesterday and my mum's car failed mot Grr so I have her car in for repair in my garage and I have just noticed my car's inner cv boot is spit. I have one I bought for the kit car to replace the ones it has. But still its going to take up at least two days sorting them before I can get the other donor car in for its engine to be removed!!!

Ahh the luxury of just having 2 broken cars:rolleyes:

My wifes failed it's MOT to the degree that it's not worth fixing, Her other car has been off the road for 2 years but is almost ready for the road ( a weeks work ) , but it's blocked in the garage by my 24V sapph that needs finishing for the summer, which is blocked in by a MK1 golf shell that needs to go, which is blocked in by an Imovvable twinturbo XR4, which is flanked by the previously mentioned MOT failed Mondeo. And tucked beside bits and pices is the Chassis for the roadster.

And My galaxy needs the Aircon Rebuilding and a water leak fixing.... Perhaps I have too many things on...

Here TT .................. You remind me of .......... Well, me !!:D

My place resembles a scrap yard at the moment !!??

Mk 5 Escort in the workshop for repairs ( Friggin clutch AGAIN )

Calibra in the drive & awaiting breaking. Saving the Red Top engine .... Keeping some spares for Juniors car

1987 Pinto engined Mk3 Transit Tipper in the drive .... Seldom used ... On SORN at the mo, but still insured & MOT'd ( I have a feeling I am going to have to tax it real soon )

My daily driver Mazda, thankfully still sweet & needs no work.

Juniors Calibra, demoted to parking in the lane at the end of the drive.

Finally, a Daihatsu Sportrak sitting on the front grass, much to the annoyance of er indoors
The Dihatsu was given to me & was far too good to scrap .... Fast dawning on me though ..... If I want to crack on with the Roaster, I ain't got the time to waste on that !!! & best it just goes to that happy scrapyard in the sky ??

All in all .... Got my work cut out keeping the good lady wife sweet :o

Whats up your other halfs mondeo?

Handbrake low effort for 3rd year running, so suspect another caliper.
Front Brake pipes incorrectly routed and rubbing ( subframe drop job )
Number plate lamp
Advisorys on pitted disks ( it's done 3K in 2 years )
Cracked screen ( VOSA man was there and it was 100% by the letters, so the fact that the crack was right in the lower passenger corner but in the swept area "Actualy the Parked possision!!" Mr VOSA said no.. so that would be another £60..

And the emissions were out for the second year, it had a main cat last year. But the work to find out if it was that or one of the other two cats was going to get expensive!!

It was £350 before the screen and emissions work

And I suspect a headgasket leak on one bank anyway...

Not worth spending that much on ( MK1 Si 2.5 with RS Pack. ) .. I will probably be braking it eventualy...

correl 16th February 2010 08:17 AM

well as you can see by the rest of my posts I really crack on. Mother car is done, my car is done and the second donor car is in the garage. This one I only need the engine, seat's and a couple of other small things.

Then I have to put the 4x4 gearbox to the engine and put the transfer box back on with its new seals and fresh lick of paint. And place it down in the corner of the work shop on some card board to protect the sump and ne paint lol

correl 18th February 2010 07:03 PM

what i have been up to, frist car out second car in!!

I'm afraid he's gone home now Correl..........

Will have to wait until tomorrow. Not much to see though just a load of steel bar. Andy was going to ask if you wanted the front frame welding up and if so do you still want the standard 75mm offset between top and bottom frame?

I see lots of steel bar,

Its very satisfying seeing a load of 7mtr lengths of steel turn into smaller lengths that all have the cut angles marked & ready to go on their first journey:cool:

No prob Correl, I got your reply to my PM, :)

I thought it best to ask , just incase, & also it wouldn,t have been a prob to weld it for you,

If you need to change anything once you start welding it together, just shout if i can help in any way.

By the way....the kit comes with spare lengths of the 2 different sizes of boxed tube ;)

AshG 6th March 2010 12:05 AM

woah that is going to be one wide car. looks like its been widened by about a foot. have you thought about what approach you are taking with bodywork yet?

correl 6th March 2010 12:08 AM

will do andy, gotta lift the engine up on the bench tommorrow align it so i know where to put the whole in the bench for the sump.

Bench was designed to take the weight so should be fine :-)
