Orite Guys,

Ye looking forward to stoneleigh, just coming down for the sunday

hopefully see you there!

AshG 23rd March 2010 10:42 PM

Woah thats a lot more people on the list than i expected.

if every one turns up then we may have a problem. the stand wont be big enough for all the tintops plus tents and kitcars. think we may have to set-up the tents on the stand then park the tin-tops out the way in the family camping area, otherwise we all wont fit.

shouldn't be too much of a problem. I will be there early on saturday so if you see a mad looking bloke flapping his arms about trying to direct you where to setup your tent then chances are it will be me or chris.

GraemeWebb 24th March 2010 08:35 AM

I'll be a day visitor, only live up the road.

davidimurray 24th March 2010 10:11 AM

I will be up for one day with my girlfriend and possibly a mate - is there a better day to go for the bargains?

Peter-C 24th March 2010 11:06 AM

I'll be a day visitor, probably Sunday or Monday.

Peter-C 26th March 2010 01:33 PM

I was just thinking ,(its ok it won't become a habit) with all these forum people at Stoneleigh, would it be a good idea that you take any spare bits, tools, etc. to be distributed amongst members. It would save on postage especially for large and heavy parts.

I will take my surplus to requirements Axminster reamer. Free to a good home.

Peter

Chris Gibbs 2nd April 2010 02:44 PM

As Ash was saying, it seems there are too many camping to accomodate on the Locost stand.

Really we're not supposed to camp on the stand but they turn a blind eye to a few tents.:)

We think the fairest way to go would be to have the people with Roadsters at the show to camp on the stand (to be near their cars) and everyone else to camp together on the camping ground.

I hope that this will be acceptable for everyone, The alternative is for no one to camp on the stand and all camp together.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Chris :)

richardk 2nd April 2010 05:41 PM

My preference would be for the first option as I prefer to be near my motor, sad I know!

See you all there. Is there anybody that could bring a gazebo again? Would be nice.

Cheers

R

AshG 2nd April 2010 09:55 PM

i have still got the gazebo that we had last year. im not sure it it will strap onto the back of the car but i will have a go. failing that someone coming up from the south is more than welcome to come and pick it up from mine.

richardk 2nd April 2010 11:22 PM

Thanks Ash !

How far is the Family Camping Area from the Locost stand? I was hoping to bring my 5 year old son along but also to spend the evenings talking like we did last year. If those of us no bringing our roadsters have to camp elsewhere I won't be able to get my son to sleep nearby so I can keep an eye on him unless I can squeeze into the locost stand somewhere.

Bonzo 5th April 2010 11:02 PM

Hi Adrian

The Locost stand is provided by the Locost car club & as far as I know it has nothing to do with Locostbuilders site.

I dare say that many of the Locost Car Club membership are also members of Locost builders.

The Locost Car Club have been kind enough to provide space on their area to accomodate Haynes Roadster builders & their cars  :)

Yes I believe the Locost car Club is closed to new members .

At Soneleigh last year, Chris Gibbs did explain the reasons as to why the club had been closed to new members & very sound they were too :)

I believe that the Locost stand has been booked as a block booking & that booking still has a year or two left.

Chris hopes that once the Locost booking expires, Haynes will provide the funding for the next block booking.

Should it ever become the Haynes Roadster stand .... One would hope that the Roadster builders will return the favour & share the facilitys with some of the great Locost lads :) :)

I think we need some organisation sorted.

There's not going enough space for everyone to camp on the Locost club stand, does everyone agree that those with Roadsters should have priority?

We need to sort out how we can camp together on the camp site, otherwise we're going to be seperated, which won't be as much fun.

It was mentioned that we might have a communal BBQ on the Sunday night, the easiest way is for everyone to bring their own food. Does anyone have a biggish BBQ that they could bring or a gazebo?

All ideas greatfully received :D

Cheers

Chris :)

Davey 20th April 2010 08:54 PM

Booked our tickets yesterday. We have a 7 metre bright red and black Iveco minibus converted into a motorhome with a 4 metre awning on the side and a gas griddle that plugs into the side of the van in the awning:D Although its not huge but can cope if everyone brings their own food (I'll tell SWMBO later:D ). We should be arriving mid afternoon on the Saturday and we can happily be a centre point of the general camping area. Totally agree that the stand should be populated by Roadster exhibitors/drivers/owners. Let me know if this is OK:D .

D.

In edit, if someone wants to act as central co-ordinator let us all know and we can PM mobile Nos to contact on the day.

Tilly819 20th April 2010 09:00 PM

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

get that thing on the stand, im all for camping in comfort lol :D

Oh i also got round to painting the car so it wont be in primer i havnt posted any pics though il just let you all have a good nose at it at the show, only just realised that its weekend after next still got a few jobs to do to get it show worthy

tilly :D

Davey 20th April 2010 09:17 PM

Tilly, If I put "that thing" on the stand there won't be much room for Roadsters:D . Happy to be a central point for a "polite meeting":p when the show is closed though;) .

D.

Obviously Roadsters should have priority on the stand. It would be nice if we could have the evening gathering in the camping area though.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a gazebo I can bring. I can bring a normal round BBQ but it will not be Big enough I fear, we will probably need 2 or 3 this size. Also I would remind everyone to bring a chair to sit on.

Chris Gibbs 21st April 2010 03:00 PM

I think Davey's motorhome would be a great focal point both for the camping and for the BBQ, I suggest that we all chip in for the extra gas.

Would this work? If Davey sends his number to everyone who is camping we could call him on arrival and be "talked in" to our spot.

I'd organise this myself but I've got a meeting in Coventry on Saturday afternoon.

I don't want to impose on people but I think a bit of organisation will make things run more smoothly ;)

Cheers

Chris :)

Me too Chris, it would certainly be an easy target to find.

I hope Davey will be cool with this :)

It'll save me driving about for 20 mins looking for a big red Gazebo & HandyAndys van !!

Thought I was going blind last year !!??.... It turned out that the Gazebo hadn't been erected yet & Andys van was right behind me cos I was in his way :o

Bet Andy thought " What is that stupid twat in front of me doing " :D

I remember last year, I couldnt find the stand for love nor money.
Ended up phoning Ash, hoping he could "talk me in"
Then I see some loony runnng across the field with a beer in hand.
So I stopped, he handed me a beer and said
"Hi I'm HandyAndy, you must be Dogwood"
Well done that man, pretty much set the scene for the whole weekend....:D

good fun..

i have still got my gazebo from last year. might try and drop it off to ginge one evening next week so he can bring it up in his massive 4x4.

the bbq last year was a £15 one from b&Q. im sure we could stop in cov and buy one, i know where all the shops are if someone wants a ride out in the roadster.
