Yep, just called them, it's no problem. Thanks Ginge. Can't ask you guys to keep a space for me till then, but I'll call the number given when i arrive just on the off-chance.

Coozer 29th April 2010 09:41 PM

Whats the crack with camping now? Seems theres not enough room on the show off stand, are we camping elsewhere?

LG,
Steve

gingea1pom 29th April 2010 09:48 PM

Coozer,

I stand to be corrected so don’t quote me but I think Roadster owners are camping on the stand and the centre of all things Roadster will be there (including Daveys van). The likes of you and I will wonder back to our pits by our tin tops in the camping field just to sleep.

PLEASE correct me if I am wrong (Ash Chris)

Cheers Ginge

dogwood 29th April 2010 09:58 PM

I seem to recall there is a family camping area just a short walk.
Stumble even... from the locost club stand.

I may be tempted to camp there myself coz it's near the bogs.
and my pea bladder wife cant manage with a bottle..:p

I'll camp where I'm told to but I thought I was putting my van in the general camping area as with the awning out it covers a 7X4metre area, even more if we stretch the front of the awning out on poles, more like 7X6 then. I'll try to find a photo so you all know what to look for:D .

Davey 29th April 2010 10:11 PM

Here's a photo of it all set up as our show stand last weekend at Peterborough.

D.

gingea1pom 29th April 2010 10:11 PM

Davey,

You could well be right,

We will either wait for someone who is more knowledgeable about the Stoneleigh set up or wait until we get there.

Either way I believe your beast will be the focal point.

Cheers Ginge

Davey 29th April 2010 10:14 PM

Okay Ginge, looks like we might just get away before midday Saturday so could be there by 2 pm ish, I'll bell you when we're nearly there.

Here's another go at posting the last photo.

D.

Doh, for some reason it won't let me upload the last photo, anyway you can get an idea of what to look for from my previous post.

D.

Bonzo 29th April 2010 10:28 PM

Even I can find that Davy :D :D

I must say .... That monster awning will make a great place for us to sit & chat the night away

Off to bed now .... Being a good boy this week, not working on the Roadster so as I am fit & able for the show :)

Coozer 29th April 2010 10:52 PM

How far is the camping field from the stand? Was hoping to be near all you very nice social guys and gals:) :)

Stonleigh show guide.
Incase anyone aint seen it.

http://issuu.com/completekitcar/docs..._-_may_2010_lr

On page 31 it shows the layout
I think we were on pitch 39 or 40
I'm sure someone will remember and correct.
There is a camping area just near the Dakar pickup point.
Number 82.

Billy No Mates

Never been to Stoneleigh before. The original plan was to come down with a couple of mates and camp over Saturday and Sunday nights. Unfortunately they had to drop out, so has left me on me tod!!
Couple of questions.
1) Is there any more like minded No Mates, be it Billy, Trevor, Steve, Alan or whatever? Don't really know anyone off here, but you all seem a friendly bunch.
2) Will probably now just come down Saturday afternoon and travel home Sunday after the show, do I need to book in for the camping or can I just show up.
Cheers
Alan

Chris Gibbs 30th April 2010 12:19 PM

The Locost car club stand is 39c.

I think the idea is that everyone camps together in the camping area with Davey's van and anyone who arrives in a Roadster has the option of pitching their tent on the stand to be near their cars, if they want to.

There'll be plenty of introductions Alan, I know a few people but really this will be the first serious meet up so you won't be an outsider (bring beer!)

You won't need to book for the camping, there's usually loads of room.

Cheers

Chris :)

dogwood 30th April 2010 12:21 PM

The place will be full of "Billy no mates"
it comes from spending all ya time on ya own in the garage..

Just turn up and join the rest of us...
Last year was my first time, I just fell in with this great bunch of nutters

Coozer 30th April 2010 01:16 PM

I know a few but not many, hoping the nutty majority can bring me out of my shell and have a good time!

Then when I go home happy (and wet) I can laugh all the way back to DH5:) :)

Just turn up, pay on the gate and your in! Phone the number from earlier in this thread and you will not look back.

LG,
Steve

Anything that will fall out of the sky at Stoneleigh will seem like drizzle to us Cornish folk :D

Alan

Don't fret mate .... I'll be up there on my lonesome too ( Another Billy no mates )

Last year, I had an absolute blast & had a very warm welcome from everyone I met.

Heck, even Chris Gibbs spoke to me .... He said " Get out of my way " :D

Only kidding, Chris is a top guy :)

eSteve 30th April 2010 04:21 PM

I'll be there

Glad to see there will be good turn out at the show. Can't wait to have a good look round some finished roadsters and to pick up some inspiration that will turn my pile of wood (for the build table) and metal in to a car!

Does anyone remember my second post "Will I fit: footwell length and driver height?"? http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=3745. It would be nice if some kind member would let us try their Roadster for a 'fitting'.

We are (that's me and my wife) planning on dropping in to the show on Sunday pm, but depending on the weather it may be Monday morning. We are staying overnight nearby, not in a tent I hasten to add, stopped camping many moons ago.

Might have to bring the mutt. Does anyone know if dogs are allowed in to the show ground? Otherwise we'll leave him in the car with a few copies of CKC.:D
