TT

correl 6th March 2010 09:35 PM

Just seen your engine start video, that was ace!!!

I can wait to get to that stage!! would be so tempted at that stage to get an exhaust and a seat and take it to some air field somewhere and "Test out the handling!!! lol"

AshG 6th March 2010 09:45 PM

Andy hate to say this but you are being a bit shy with the pictures lately :D

HandyAndy 6th March 2010 10:00 PM

Correl..... thanks, it was a great feeling getting the engine fired up, in fact its probably one of the few moments when i didn,t say much , :D

Ash...... just been so busy busy busy lately, i,ll get some pics up soon, was holding off to possibly show the new bodywork colour i hope to have done ;) :)

its still coming along, the car is getting closer to being driven, ( in & out of the unit of course ;) )

cheers
andy

fabbyglass 6th March 2010 10:34 PM

Stoneleigh then...

HandyAndy 21st March 2010 05:20 PM

a bit of an update on my car...
engine runs / brakes are done /fuel tank & lines all done / electrics working & dash board works.
here,s a couple of pics taken today, started putting bodywork on .

So its getting there :)

Enoch 21st March 2010 05:34 PM

Looking good Andy, quite some progress there. Just one thing, those headrests are too low for IVA. The top of them have to be 753mm from the base of the seat. I have the same seats and measured mine today. It's an easy fix, just cut some tubes that go over the existing headrest rods so they can't go down so far. Hope I'm not teaching Granny to suck eggs:)
Keep up the great work.
Dave

Tatey 21st March 2010 05:46 PM

Looking really good Andy. You'll soon be racing it around the track and driving it on the roads. I see you've cleaned off all of the dust from the last time I came to visit :p.

twinturbo 21st March 2010 05:56 PM

What are the seats, they look nice.

Hope to see it progressed a little further when i pop over..

TT

Tatey 21st March 2010 06:31 PM

They are these seats TT:

http://www.midlandwheels.com/Shop/P-...te-Piping.html

They cost £120 delivered for the pair, which is bargain if you ask me.

HandyAndy 21st March 2010 06:41 PM

cheers guys :)

Enoch.... grandma sucking eggs :p ......I,ve purposely not welded in my cross brace in the roll bar until i,ve set the seat height, so yes the headrest will be raised ;) :)

TT.... the seats are as in the linky that Tatey has added ( thanks Tatey ), they are a bargain but as i haven,t driven my car yet can,t comment on how they feel whilst driving. But I can now see over the aeroscreen lol

Tatey... yes, its had a clean up, made good use of the new airlines we now have at Saturn, great for getting dust out of all the awkward to get at places.

Got to fit the rad next & the next purchase is a prop, then i,ll give it a test drive around the unit ,

cheers
andy

Bonzo 21st March 2010 07:14 PM

Looking G-G-Great Andy .... You'll have it ready for that track day yet ;) :)

Looks like you are on the home straight now

The head rest height that Enoch spoke of is based on a reference point of the seat squab ( The bit you put your bum on )

The datum point is in the IVA manual some where .... As Enoch said .... No real drama to sort. ;)

Cheers Ronnie,

It,d be great if i can attend the trackday in my own car,

This week i hope to fit the rad, back braces & cross brace for the roll bar & tidy up the wiring .
I,m going to spend a few evenings on it as Spud & I are busy with Saturn work
Really looking forward to getting the prop installed as it,ll make a change from pushing it in & out of the unit :D

just in case anyone isn,t sure which is my car .......its the one without side panels & rear tub :p ......at the moment.

cheers
andy

flyerncle 21st March 2010 07:36 PM

No Saturn booster seat then ?

Lot tidier looking than earlier Saturday Andy. :p

twinturbo 21st March 2010 08:53 PM

TT......... I have some more pics from today, would you like me to post another showing the cockpit?

I,ll be totally honest & say that i really did want the Triton seats but funds have been "redirected" elsewhere lately  so these seats were available at what i could afford at the time, when my car is finished & maybe in winter lay-up I may still buy some Triton seats ( could be my xmas prezzie :D )

cheers
andy

HandyAndy 21st March 2010 09:54 PM

here,s a couple more photos from today...
I,ve been asked about the difference regarding the "book spec" rear tub frame & the GRP rear frame............so in one of the pics is my car showing the FINISHED framework for the GRP tub i,ll be fitting, tho please be aware that i haven,t fitted the rear brace bars or crossbrace to my roll bar yet in the photo, but they have no affect of the way the GRP frame is on the chassis. .....hope this helps.

Also is a photo of the cockpit.

cheers
andy

Glad the pics helped, :)

As for the tank, the rail that the tank sits on is a 25mm box tube & at average bumper height, as most "7" style cars have a similar arrangement.
Tho I suppose if it worries you there is nothing stopping you building a "cage" around the tank from the bottom rail to perhaps the diff cage area.

cheers
andy

fabbyglass 24th March 2010 10:40 PM

If you are worried about the tank being a bit exposed.....drive faster so nowt can spank you from behind..:D :D Or to kep plod happy use a foam filled tank to stop it going pooomtang, but fast is more fun:D

tex 13th April 2010 12:56 PM

andy - WOW! last time i saw your *climbing frame* it was a lot different to now.. looking really good mate! very good! more to the point has it been run yet? if not - please give me a shout to let me be there!!! would love to capture it.. been a long haul.. know how you feel!
