Morning campers.
Well it rained all night, I am just cooking breakfast and don't know how any one else faired as I hav'nt steped out of my tent yet Hope there is no rain today, it is a little chilly though. Cheers Ginge |
Mornin' gingea1pom,
I'm jealous, not of you spending a night in a tent with the rain, but having a good fry-up in the morning, when the rain's stopped and the sun is peeping through is the marvelous bit about camping... I hope the sun is peeping through for you lot. It is in Bournemouth, will be leaving soon and be up at the show later on today. Hope the weather holds. P.S It was certainly quiet on the forum last night with you lot away. |
Last time I camped we went out for the day in the pouring rain, returned to sunshine at the campsite and a tent that had been flattend by gales... Static caravan's are a good retreat :)
TT |
Well its rained all night till about 6 am then it got windy. Its calmed down a bit now and bodies seem to be resurfacing from their tents although there is no sign of life from the Gibbs household as yet.
Anyway here's a photo of our camping area hopefully. Errm not happening! For some strange reason it won't let me attach a file, I'll try again later. D. |
Is there a mobile rolling road there this year? If so, who, how much and capacity?

What a day!
I spent £250 by 11 o'clock! Got almost every thing on my list including the seats I wanted no Sieara track rod ends though! It is freezing cold but I have spent most of the day inside. Slimtater, I haven't seen a rolling road but that doesn't mean there isn't one here I will ask when we all gather at 7 tonight. TT, only done 20 Quids worth but I said I will do all the selling tonight. The 20 quid is from people who where thrusting money in my hand, I just couldn't say no. Handyandy has been pushing the Roadster on the Locost stand with one of his Chassis kits, Ash's car and my banner. So top marks for him, it's freezing. Looks like Ash's car might be on the CKC stand tomorrow. I'm of to see if I can get Davey's Mrs to make me a brew. OK there is steem coming from the back of LesG's van looks like the kettle is on. Bumped into Chris Gibbs looking at his book in a glass case on the Deamond Tweeks stand, funny. Oh I saw VBH she looks better on the tely! This is killing my thumb typing on the BlackBerry and there is no spell checker! Cheers Ginge |
As Ginge says its bleedin' freezin' here! I ain't spent a penny on anything roadster related much to my dismay, I was planning on spending around £750ish but no one seems to have what I want :-( . Never mind, tomorrow's a whole new shopping day.
Ginge, the Mrs says kettle's on mate ;-) D. |
Here's a link to the one and only photo available at the moment on mu facebook page.

Thanks to everyone for making me welcome, especially for the cup of tea this morning after a cold wet night. Tent going straight back to argos in the morning, it's crap. Had a great time and hope it@s warmer dryer for the rest of you tonight.

Just got back form the show. Was a fantastic - great to stand around with other roadster builders and wax lyrical :D Great to finally meet the two Andys - the Saturn stand looked fantastic - much bigger than I expected! Happened to pop next door as well and order my Triton seats from Emma:D Good to meet Ronnie (thanks again for the seat runners) and gus. Almost got hold of Ginge but he seemed to be on his bargain hunting mission this morning and evaded my capture through the exhibition hall! Surprised not to see that many bargains around - but you could save a few quid here and there - I got a fuse box which was twice the price on some other stands! Still managed to pick up lots of useful bits and have a look round and get lots of inspiration. Dying to get back out in the garage and get to work again! Think I will have to consider camping next year!

hi all, its still freezing here, tho thankfully its not raining at the mo...
shock horror...i actually spent some money on Roadster bits :D just had a few drinks with everyone in the bar, live band , good banter, great night. cheers andy |

are you coming over in the TVR Slim? cheers andy |
Drove 200+ miles to get to the show today with tent in boot ready for tonight. Got there, managed to miss everyone Roadster related, froze me bits off, bought loads of tools and some suspension bolts, then drove 200+ miles home again cos it was bloody freezing.
Good show though, hopefully will be there in my own roadster next year and will hopefully get myself a bit more organised and arrange to meet up with some of the guys. Severe lack of roadster related items though, it's a good job I live within spitting distance of Saturn for all my bits!! Hope you guys ain't too cold tonight camping out, I'm just sitting in my nice warm living room drinking vodka n red bull and watching re-runs of 1986 auf wiedersehen pet. Cheers lads Alan |

Well nearly there now.
Great night last night (sleep wize) woke up late to find Davey wondering over with a brew. We had a good chat / discusion about the club. I will leave that to Handy Andy, he was taking notes. For the Roadster I got, Seats, Fan, headlights, 3mm rubber strip also tools. Spent £300. Great weekend more to come once I am back on a computer with a spell checker! Cheers Ginge |
What weekend
Well that's me back home, rested & back in the land of the living.
That was a marathon 560 mile round trip for me, left Stoneleigh ( Sunday ) at about 7.15pm & arrived back home at 12.30am. Firstly .... Sorry for bailing out on all of you after the first day .... Geared up for both nights but unfortunately, I did not travel up to the show as well as I had hoped & arrived a little bit frazzled !! Appart from freezing me nuts off, I had an absolute blast at the ground .... Fantastic meeting everyone once again & even more fantastic meeting so,so many new faces  Sorry If I missed anyone on the day & so, so sorry that I did not get a propper chance to have a natter with Esteve .... Like ships that passed in the night & just a quick hands up accross the crowd. A Special thanks must go to Davy & his good lady for the hospitality given to one and all .... I think without that awning mate, we would have been tucked up in our tents by 8pm on Saturday night hiding away from the rain  Thanks also to Handy & John .... They both kept the tea flowing, just like being at home :) Ohhh .... Ash mate .... Check your car ??? .... I think I may have left one of my kidneys in it :D For those of you still there or visitng today, have a great time. Me !!?? .... Counting the days down till next year. |

We got back about half an hour ago. Great show and fantastic to meet everyone. The awning was no bother Bonz, it always goes with us when we're in the camper (difficult to not take it seeing as its bolted to the roof:D ).
Didn't really buy anything for my build:( as I couldn't find much that was of any real use to progress it right now. All I bought was a pair of battery cutoff switches one of which is for the camper. I did well in the raffle though with three prizes:D , Handy's welding clamps, a vinyl roadster decal and that huge bar of chocolate:rolleyes: . I'll now try again to post that photo, more to come later. D. |
That photo came up OK Davy .... Keep em coming mate
How cold was it last night & how was the weather today ?? Froze me bleeding nuts off yesterday  :D I am sure you'll agree, a great time was had by all :) |
It was even colder last night Ronnie, at least I reckon it was. After the meeting most of us went over to the warwick building where there was warmth, people, a bar and a live band who turned out to be pretty good. Way too much alcohol was consumed, a few were sensible but I try very hard not to do sensible after 7pm:p .

Just got home from the Show. It was great to see everyone again this year. Sorry it was just a flying visit but managed to put a few more faces to names. Total spend this year - £5 on a coil over spanner! I know there was less traders but thats just silly and a wasted opportunity! Great talk on suspension set up arranged by TKC.
Broke my promise made last year of having the car on the stand, so will not ever male foolish statements like that again!:) At least Ash proved it could be done. |
Well chaps, great meeting you all and yes, thanks to Dave for the cover when the rain was lashing down.
Last night was very good, everyone having a good laugh and the alcohol made me sleep through all the MK noise:) Nice to see you all, plenty of laughs despite the weather and can't wait for next year! LG, Steve |
great to meet all of you for the first time. A great friendly bunch - many thanks to all.
Spent about 200 quid on bits for my build, got mirrors, harnesses, fuel filler, rear lights, 2 slick tyres, the new CKC electrics book and a radiator! Really enjoyed John Dickens talk on electrics, at least it's given me some more confidence to have another go at mine. |
what day is it? the last few days have been a blur.... It was great to see everyone again, & to put faces to names of alot of forum members I hadn,t met before, thanks all for making it a great weekend, albeit a wet & cold weekend. My apologies to anyone that i didn,t get chance to say bye to & hoped you all had a safe journey home. A big thanks to "Davey & Mrs Davey" for the luxury of the motorhome/awning & the never ending supply of hot food on the go, :) I would like to say thanks for all the members attending the "Club" meeting in awful weather, thankfully we had the protection of the "Davey" awning. I enjoyed the show despite the weather & even spent some money on nice "Bling" bits for my Roadster :D Roll on next year  cheers andy |
Roll on Newark there Andy!:) :)

Hi David
Firstly, a very warm welcome to the forum. Secondly, so, so sorry for paying thanks to John for all of the tea :o Got a brain like a sieve when it comes to names, my signature says it all really :D David, thank you so much for all of the tea you made for me over the weekend mate :) Les Glad you enjoyed the week end & had a good run back home. It was a real pleasure to meet you & TJ. Hope you have stashed the contents of your van mate ;) |
been chilling and hanging around on here this morning Ronnie
TJ only woke up an hour ago so gonna have some lunch and stash the goodies and sort the van out ready for work tomorrow back to the grind again problem is i know what awaits me .....i have a throttle conversion kit to fit to an excavator (marvelous will play up hell with me knees all that climbing up and down and crawling around the rear deck ) cheers les g |
Me too
Went out to the workshop this morning .... Full of beans & ready to have a good tidy up so as I can make my side panels .... Took one look at the mess and thought " I'll do that dreckly " :D :D Good luck with that, throttle coversion job  |
Got back late, 11pm, last night after being rained on and my hat blew off doing a ton on the M1 so had a very cold head the last 100 miles. Car did the return trip silky smooth, lovely comfy ride.
Had a great weekend, shame the weather was a bit pants though. Was very successful for Saturn and Haynes as a group. Sorry we couldn't spend much sociable time but it was all a lot busier and tiring than any of us thought it would be. Will know better next time. Was good to meet plenty of fellow builders and put faces to names and thank for the box of tinnies Ginge, we'll be enjoying them tonight. Thanks All.....AndyH + Anja + Adam |

Big thanks to Ginge for helping with my erection, new tents can be tricky! Big thanks to Dave and Jackie for their hospitality, much apreciated. Looking forward to the next one...:D Cheers Chris :) |
