I voted CVH but I am planning a Zetec upgrade after its finished.

BMW M60B30.

That's a 3.0L quad cam 32v V8 for those not in the know. 220bhp and enough torque to pull a house down. And just yesterday I got it turning over - Woo Hoo!

I voted for using a CVH, but after buying a runner for £40 i'll be going down the 1.8 Zetec route on ZX9R carbs and megajolt.

Still in the planning stage.... (just bought the materials to make my build table :) )

Will be going for a 2.0 Zetec (but am considering a 1.6)

1.8 K-Series (VVC Head)
with lots of nice bits - Farndon Engineering billet crank, forged con-rods, Acralite pistons, forged valves, etc

should be tasty :D

Headshot 12th May 2010 08:53 PM

sweet, love those VVC engines, had one in an old shape 220 gti turbo, after I blew that engine up :D

hmmmmm may think of one of those nearer the time

1.6 ZETEC SE is a cracking power unit if you get a good un but they're bloody expensive to do any work on. 105BHP out of the box and anything up to 160BHP is pretty easy to achieve with relatively minor work. more money and time can go a lot further. Plus its an all alloy lump so lightweight to boot. I've just done a head gasket on a 1.6 SE engined Fiesta S for my daughter and its obscenely quick! If I was building from scratch by the book I'd be seriously thinking about one of these motors.
