Vinyl wrapping - progress pics!

Started the vinyl wrapping on my car, thought I'd share a few photos! Let me know what you think, it's nice stuff to work with.

I must admit I'm not a fan of vinyl wrapping as it can go horribly wrong like those self tint window kits. Hat off you you sir that is a very nice job you've done there, you must have the patience of a saint. Did you float the vinyl over a flim of water or just lay on realy slow?

adrianreeve 15th January 2011 10:50 AM

It's 3m di noc that is really easy to use. No water, just a bit of heat if you get in a mess! The rear panel took about an hour, and the screen about 20 mins, so not so bad! The wing mirrors took about an hour each, due to all the double curves, but I'm really happy with the results.

Thanks for the nice comments Talon!

I had visions of nasty folds like that sticky back plastic stuff but hey that's damn fine that is mate, it looks better than some proper carbon fibre I have seen available for kit cars..pat on the back and hats off to you..

Know I wonder what my camper would look like wrapped in carbon:cool:

flyerncle 15th January 2011 11:35 AM

COR! I'm likin' that, really works well with the orange
Do have any details of where to get the product as I have a project for which that would be ideal....

That looks awesone Adrian, I've been researching vinyl wraps for a while but discounted it as I thought it had to be done in a bodyshop garage but I may just have a go now, hoping to do the entire car matt black with maybe carbon fibre or gloss strips through the middle.

Very cool and pukka job

they did a whole mini on wheeler dealers and auctioned it of at international mini meet for the 50th aniversary a couple of years ago.

great thing is they can print any logo pattern etc etc makes for some very individual cars !

looks a very good job you've done there patience must be one of your strengths.:D

Looking great Adrian.

I've been considering wrapping my car to match my white Saturn bodywork. Any tips, info, guides, costs etc you could offered would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the comments guys. David, there are some good fitting instructions on the underground graphics website and blog, I just followed their advice. It's actually been a lot easier than I was expecting.

fabbyglass 16th January 2011 11:13 AM

Daft thought...My camper gulps fuel at 20ish to the gallon so it's seen as having a big carbon footprint so perhaps wrapped in carbon It would make an even bigger footprint.......:D

Nice Job Adrian, funny I'd been looking at the 3M stuff during the week and now you've inspired me.

Hi if you don't mind me asking, what sort of price is it and where do you get it from.

Cheers

adrianreeve 19th January 2011 01:09 PM

I got it from underground graphics, it worked out at about £44 / m length, it's 1.2m wide. The more you but, the cheaper it gets
