posts threads disappearing?
Has any body noticed that a few posts and threads have disappeared this morning, was this done by our Mods or by Haynes? Was it some thing that was said or did it get complaints, if it is a dead issue I'll understand if there is not an answer from any body.

It may have got accidentally deleted in a clean up round. Avoid posting in announcements section for the time being as we can't possibly read every spam post we delete. There is every chance that if there s a stray post in the middle of ten spam posts then it may accidentally get block deleted when we delete a page at a time.

Ok fair enough, just thought I'd ask the question thanks Ash.
|
I do scan down the list to try and ensure there is no genuine threadsd being ticked for deletion but with the volume ( I must have deleted 7-8 pages so far today ) it's possible I have accidentally deleted one.

To be fair it must be a relentlessly tedious task you guys are doing, just a thought - if someone notices an important thread missing can they flag up to you to be un-deleted or is it permanent?

Is it not possible to start up a new section calling "Nothing" then lock up the announcement section, then who cares what spam they post, all you have to do is delete every message in that section once a day or whenever. Just a thought.

It is a pain with the current situation but TT and Ash seem to be doing a great job. |

[quote=SeriesLandy;83467]We already do its called announcements, if nobody posted in there it would be fine, just full of spam.
Ok this just prompted a thought that might be possible without the admin intervention, is it possible to move all the genuine posts out of the announcements section and into say a sticky in another forum on a temp basis to preserve and protect them. This would make the announcements section clear for the spammers and might make it easier to empty the trash. Once a permanent solution is found they could be moved back. It's just a thought, again Ash/TT would have to confirm viability. Bruce Edit: I said another forum above, I meant 'section' doh |
Just a thought but is there anything we can do that would actually hurt the spammers back such as contacting any of the companies they seem to be representing ?
|
Your not likely to hurt them much and in some cases their posts are a veil for something other than it appears.
