Pre-IVA Photos

After a week off working in a boiling garage I think I am just about there. Going to make a start on the paperwork this week so thought it would be a good idea to post a few photos up here. Would be great if you could have a look through and see if you can spot anything that needs attention. Jobs still to do are :-
Trim headlight lower ring
Fit under dash covers
set headlight alignment.
Make some covers to go over upper seatbelt mounts

All advise gratefully received

Cheers

Dave

Sorry I can give you no helpful input except that, that is a very tidy build mate, I hope all goes well on the day :)

SeriesLandy 21st July 2013 01:44 PM

I can't see any problems, looking great though.

skov 21st July 2013 04:00 PM

Looking good
I don't think I can see any problems either.

Good luck with the test, I think if it fails it will be on the tiniest of things and bad luck that you got a stickler for the rules

Looking really good Dave. Its quite hard to tell any IVA points from pics, but looks like you've got trim/covers in all the usual places.

Might be worth getting someone to look over it in person if possible to see if there are any bits you might have missed

twinturbo 22nd July 2013 12:43 PM

Looks Very Nice.

looking good Dave ....two things and not sure about both.... lambda bung and overlength bolts on pedals, but like I say I am not sure if they would be an issue

Stot 22nd July 2013 01:15 PM

Looks great David, although it looks like you are using Joan Collins' camera. :p

Would be good to see those dash lights in action.

Cheers

Thanks for having a look everyone.

The lambda bung has had a fillet machined on the plug and i've also sanded a radius on the boss itself.

Interesting thought on the pedal bolts - will have to read the manual again.

Another one that has been suggested on another forum is to cut the windscreen wiper stalk off in case the inspector interprets it as being for a later screen. Just ordered a spare unit so I can replace if I do fit a screen.

And Stot - a specilial photo for you :p Note that the handbrake, sidelight and battery are especially sharp and well defined - much better than the others which came with the kit :D

Stot 23rd July 2013 11:01 AM

Oh yeah they came out better than I had thought.

Well - no turning back now - paperwork is in the post :p

davidimurray 17th August 2013 04:06 PM

Having submitted my iva forms 3 weeks ago i've been chasing vosa through the week, forms were passed to local test centre on Monday and they said to ring back today if I hadn't heard anything.

So rang back today and after being passed back and forth for about 15 min they eventually put me through to the test centre as they were not allowed to give me the direct number. Spoke to a very nice lady who explained that a guy called Bob Stafford does the tests and that he organises all the tests and paperwork so would need to speak to him. Only problem is he is very busy doing tests and rarely in the office so she gave me his mobile number Slightly worried when his number had 666 in it! Gave him a ring and had a nice chat.he explained how busy he was and that earliest possible date would probably be around 2nd week of sept He even asked what day I would like, when I said any he cheekily replied 'is the right answer'.

Feel a lot more relaxed after chatting with him and in his own words next time I speak to him will be to give me my test date.

locost-turbo 17th August 2013 05:23 PM

I think you have done fab job. cheeky to ask but where is your bonnet from its luuuuuuuvly!!!!

davidimurray 17th August 2013 05:36 PM

Thanks locost-turbo.bonnet is from Saturn. I think gilham now have the moulds

Well I have been waiting for a test date since submitting the forms 5 weeks ago. Spoke to the examiner at Llantrisant for the second time today and he's off on holiday so earliest date is likely to be week starting 14th of October, but he is going to confirm the week before after he is back in work.On the plus side examiner did seem very friendly and we had a nice chat. So 9 weeks in total at best-is that a record????

jason 82 18th September 2013 09:25 PM

That chap at llantrisant is brilliant. I do a fair few damage repair cars, so see him a fair bit when I do vic check, he isn't too strict, & goes well out of his way to help. You will be in good hands !

TheArf 19th September 2013 08:48 AM

Good morning David, I have been looking through your photos again and still think it is a well tidy build, but looking at the base of your headlights where the crome piece meets the headlight arms is there an edge there that maybe the testers sphere could come into contact with, please don't think i'm criticizing just trying to spot things to save a return trip to the testers

I did get fed up of paying to get home every night though! Used to work in bristol!

TheArf 19th September 2013 03:34 PM

No the ring at the base of the headlight where it bolts onto the arm the third photo from the end showing close-up of top of shock, steering gaiters over the polybushes and the back of the headlight.
At the bottom of the headlight where it bolts on to the arm there is a chromed dome and the edge protrudes beyond the mounting boss

Hi Arf

No worries.thanks for having a look.Since the photos were taken I have glued edge trim over those edges.

Rpjg, I am in pontyclun so only have to pop around the corner to the test centre.

Fingers crossed that Bob likes the car :p

rpjg1975 20th September 2013 07:44 AM

TheArf 20th September 2013 08:31 AM
