Seat choice

Has anybody used seats with removable headrests.
I have seen a few on ebay and I'm not sure, the problem is I'm built for comfort not for speed and the usual type of seat fitted to the roadster is a bit SNUG.
Would the harness straps have to go inside the rods in the base of the headrest.
Any thoughts guys

I have removable headrests on my seats and I have the harness coming around the outside of the headrest not the inside. I believe for IVA you have to take the belts around the seat even if it has harness holes otherwise the seat could become a structural part of the seatbelt test.

One problem with the style of seat I have is because they are fairly wide at the lap I had to get belts that adjust from the lap down rather than the side up as the buckle on side up belts would be caught between the seat and the sides of the car.

Ill try and get a pic tonight.

That's looking tidy, I am hoping that I will be able thread them through the inside of the bars as I will be using narrower belts those look like 3" if I'm not mistaken so if I go for 2" harnesses they will hopefully pass between

Well the seats arrived and boy what a let down, have contacted the seller and now waiting to hear from them.
When you put them side by side, one cover is taught the other looks like it needs ironing.
The folds of the material do not match, its hard to explain but if you saw it you would take the pi** its like a 5 year old had done it.
Oh and when you try to adjust the headrest it just comes out in your hand and the bars are just plain mild steel roundbar without any notches for adjusting not even chromed and the holes are just punched through the material with no finishing edge or plastic insert to either finish it off properly.

That's bad news arfon, hope you get some joy from the seller. They sound similar to the ones that were on sale at either newak or donnington last year, the upholstery looked like really badly fitted seat covers!

Interesting to hear what replies you get

Dont blame you mate, sounds like they could be cheap for a reason......and they aren't even cheap enough to put up with that!

They actually asked if I would like to keep them if they refunded part of the cost, told them No I wouldn't use them for a sit on lawnmower never mind my car.

Well the seats went back to passion automotive on Monday, and I must be honest that even though there product was crap their refund policy was spot on.
They received them back at their place late Tuesday and my full refund was back in my account Wednesday morning.
So service they get a 10
Product they get a 3

Mine are the Interiors Seating ones and the finish on them is very good, but they come at a price @ £249 each in vinyl with headrest.

I paid £170 for my pair of full leather ones from ebay so its worth keeping and eye on there or the forums for good used ones. Took me a couple of months of looking before my ones came up but I was after red.

Take a look at Mamba Baby Cub seats maybe from Midland Wheels?

I have ordered some of the robin hood seats today, they phoned me up to tell me they had a delivery and I am collecting them from Donnington on Sunday so will save on the postage

I bought a pair of those baby cubs for my last build - they match the description of Arf's first purchase pretty well. They were cheap but they really looked it, especially close up. I suspect they would not have lasted very long either. I think it's worth paying a bit more where seats are concerned, cheap ones won't take the abuse like better made items.
