Finished Car

Hi all,

Haven't been on the forum for a while but just catching up on all the news, good to see a few more cars on the road! Thought I should put a few pictures up of my car, managed to pass the IVA first time last month and have since got the plates through.

well done, a stunner!

twinturbo 18th November 2013 08:11 PM

What's with the headlights changing position?

TT

Talonmotorsport 18th November 2013 08:30 PM

I would think that was a temp IVA solution to not being able to see the front indicators tucked behind the front arches from down low.

davidimurray 18th November 2013 09:55 PM

What a cracking car. Fantastic build there.

Good chap, I see you have a heater plumbed in there ! I think you are going to be glad you fitted that this winter. Really nice job on the car, you should be proud. :D

flyerncle 19th November 2013 10:01 AM

Nice one ! ;)

Shorty 19th November 2013 01:14 PM

Excellent job!
Do you have a build diary or anything? I wouldn't mind having a look through as there's some nice little extras you have put in.

skov 19th November 2013 01:14 PM

Stunning. Makes mine look like a pile of turd, lol

SeriesLandy 19th November 2013 01:17 PM

Great looking car. How did you do the transmission tunnel top and also where did you get your rear wing protectors?

K4KEV 19th November 2013 03:47 PM

that is a very tidy build indeed:)

voucht 19th November 2013 06:56 PM

One of the finest car I've seen. Congrats Steve!

And with a DOHC... hum... I could use some tips from you

Any build diary or blog, where we could see more details (like engine fitting and height, ground clearance, shorten sump...) and what bodywork brand did you use? The inlet manifold seems to fit OK under this bonnet with a bulge? I would like to know where it is from.

Thanks :)

loony 19th November 2013 07:49 PM

Congrats, great car ! And it's green... kawasaki green ;)

You can find Luke's photos here: http://s1162.photobucket.com/user/on...?sort=3&page=0
It's pleasure to watch them...

Im with everyone else what an amazing build and really good to see someone using the DOHC (as thats what we have).

We have gone for the cut and tig weld with ours and it looks like it will fit nicely now. Only issue is a couple of the sensers now catch on each other.

I hope ours is 50% as good when done.

Congrats.

Looks great, where did you get your aero screen from?

Terry

james3004 20th November 2013 11:35 PM

Good looking car! What rear diffuser are you using?

Luke2842 23rd November 2013 10:19 AM

Thanks guys for the good comments.

Like Talon said, I needed to make a couple of brackets for the headlights so that the indicators were in the right place for the IVA.

The rear wing protectors and aeroscreen are from carbon mods, and the rear diffuser is from GBS for the wide Zero - happens to fit really well.

The bodywork was from Saturn, but the inlet manifold was chopped and bonded back together with Chemical Metal to get it to fit under the scoop.

Sorry no blog but Loony's link shows all of the build photos - thanks Lucas.

The transmission tunnel was made out of MDF and bendy ply, before I covered it in foam and a carbon like fabric - it slots down over the transmission tunnel.

Your car looks stunning, you must very proud of such a high quality and well finished build.

How are you enjoying driving it?

Where did you get your carbon fibre exhaust can from? And did you have any issues with it for IVA?

Cheers,

Bill

jps 25th November 2013 06:23 PM

looks excellent! congratulations on the pass

Luke2842 27th November 2013 07:56 PM

Thanks guys, the exhaust can was from Westfields got a good discount at one of the shows - no IVA issues with it.

Just thought I’d mention that the car will be on the CKC stand at Stoneleigh this weekend, and is in the magazine over the next two issues.

Looking good and I would never have thought to bond the inlet manifold.

Welcome to the finished Haynes magazine car club :-)
