dimensions

Does anybody now the dimensions of the equinox bodywork, specifically the scuttle, bonnet and nosecone as I'm about ready to order my panels but am a little concerned about clearance over my 1.8cvh and even more so its carb air intake. So I'm wanting to do a few checks first. Many thanks for all your help in advance.

Thats great thanks Ben

Hi,
Ben gave me the heights of Equinox's bonnet some time ago, which are what you need for the under-bonnet engine clearance:
264mm back (scuttle side)
203mm front (nose side)
+4mm thickness of GRP side panel on top of TR1/TR2
Hope this can help :)

If there's any more measurements you need just let me know.

It's all off the car atm so easy to measure. I think I'll do a diagram shortly so every possible measurement can be put on

The bonnet scoop adds a bit more height for front cam cover etc

Hi Ben,
Yes, if you could, one of these days, make and publish sketches with all useful dimensions of the different elements, like Saturn did for their body work at a time, it would be very helpful (and I think a good selling help for you and Dave)

I would like to know all the dimensions of the bonnets, with no scoop, small scoop, and the exact location of the scoop, because I need to plan what I will do with the big plenum chamber of the inlet manifold of my Sierra DOHC.

Does Equinox plan to design and produce a large scoop bonnet?

Thank you.

Did you think about fitting Kia Carnival scoop on the bonnet (like MK indy) ?
I think it can be useful... and cheap ;)

Ok I'll try sort something today for you.

Dave was going to make a large scoop but it got moth balled as he got so busy with bodywork and other projects

Ben_Copeland 23rd December 2013 09:05 PM

I've done some crude drawings of the nose one and scuttle with measurements on.

It'll do for the moment till I can take photos and mark them up instead.

Thank you Ben, it gives ma good idea... that I can't fit the plenum chamber of my Sierra DOHC under this bonnet which is the tallest of all body kit's bonnets. As it is now, the top point of the plenum chamber sticks out 270mm over the top rails and is located on the rear/right side of the engine bay.

It means that I will have to make a cut on the bonnet and put an air intake/bonnet bulge, or cut and re-weld the pipes of the inlet manifold of my Sierra DOHC.

You're a natural born drawer, no? :D Just kidding, thanks for the dims !

And let us know if and when a wide scoop bonnet is available.

Thanks.

Don't know if this is any use to you but agm are a lot closer and the bodywork is spot on

Here's the dimension sheet

Ben_Copeland 25th December 2013 06:21 AM

Thought AGMs dimensions were the same but their bonnet is lower at the front.

Equinox quality is just as spot on ;)

equinox 25th December 2013 01:55 PM

The AGM sizes are nothing like my bodywork sizes.

Ben_Copeland 25th December 2013 02:00 PM

Nope, and they dont have a bonnet scoop either...but you do need to make that large bonnet scoop ;)

equinox 25th December 2013 03:04 PM

If somebody sends me a drawing of what is needed to clear
the engine including the mx5 I will make one.
I have finally finished the seat mould, so seats should be
for sale by the end of January.

I would agree the bodywork is a different size and actually looks quite different.

My bonnet fits over my engine without the need for a scoop as the engine is quite a long way back

They do sell a scoop as well http://www.agmsportscars.co.uk/2011_0205agm0003.jpg

Also Johno has used a dax scoop I think on his which looks good.

Both companies seem to have a good reputation for quality. I went with agm due to them being closer.

David
