How c-cold has it been today
How cold has it been in your workshop today ?
-3 deg C in mine first thing this morning. It did reach a toasty zero before I came in this afternoon because I was blooming freezing. :D Going to even colder tonight. I can't see a lot going on tomorrow. :) |
-9 in the car on the way home from work this morning...(picture will be on flickr later tonight for proof!)
The plan was to get strait out and have the engine out of my sierra today but bed seemed like a far more sensible option... Photo now uploaded! |
What you need is a mad scary space heater....;)
|
Mark - sand faster, create more heat :D
Cheers Chris :) |
Hey Chris what do you think to the F1 67?
|
Even colder today
Well it's -5 deg C in the workshop this morning.
Today i'll be mostly sitting by the fire & having a re-read of the Roadster book. I did have a mad scary space heater once. 1 large bottle of propane used during a long weekend. Now that's what I call scary !! :D |
Not sure how long I can stick this today, had heater on for half an hour and all was well with the world...turn it off and temp just drops right off and plays havoc with resin not too mention old bones....:o

Here you go, it's a bit more expensive than most kit cars, Ultima & GT40 replicas exempt  It's very good mind, a major step up from doing locosts. Regards John |
Check out the rivet detail on the 'glass..

I wondered how you were coping with this cold weather. Resin & all that stuff. I bet it is very cold down in that valley, all that water must act like a magnet for the frost. Thought for one moment, the price on that F1 was the companys phone number. :D |

If only there was a cheaper road legal version available ;) Cheers Chris :) |

I don't envy you working outside on heavy plant. Done some repairs inside the bowels of a combine harvester this summer. It reminded me why I gave up on the agricultural repairs. It has been cold though. Hows the build coming on Les ? |
I use to be an agricultural engineer too, had my fair shair of welding up broken loader frames in mid winter and grinding in valves in some farmers draughty cow shed or replacing some dodgy fitting hydraulic hose when you cant feel your fingers on a cold winters morning! nope, never again.... main dealers VW workshop for me!!! :) 22 degrees c in winter and a coffee machine close to hand too! cant beat it! :D
been there, got the T shirt, didnt like it, changed it for something more sensible! :D |

"done it!" Chris. |
:D :D
Me climbing deep into a combines sh**ter With me rigger boots and full welding kit on must have been a joy to behold. :D Me and cofined spaces don't go tegether !!! Did get a few sacks of corn for me ducks though. |
Wow that single seater is gorgeous, makes modern F1 cars look like "proper gompers"...yeah they are fast blah blah but they are hideous play station things and as for the racing....well I sooner watch paint dry:D
Moto GP on the other hand is a different bag of onions and WILL have you on the end of yer seat even shouting at the telebox:rolleyes: |
mark, i agree your comment on f1, boring, winning a race by being in the pits????? motogp is way better, can have 5 leaders in one lap, i take it you are a bike fan? have you ever raced? i used to race in a national championship, i once beat james whitham & got a push start by foggy in the pits at brands, ah those were the days, sigh :D
ordering my steel today, like a kid at christmas, lol. andy |
Me and my friends has a lads weekend away at moto gp donnington 2008. Toseland stacked it infront of us - twice
Cannot wait until they start selling tickets for the 2009 race because we will definately be going again, if for nothing the 125 class!! |
2 stroke fan here....with loud spannies and smelly oil:D Nowt like it..;)
|
hi mark, yep, nowt like being behind a fuming two stroke at full chat using castrol 747, hmmmm as in the bistro ad.:D i used to race GP250,s, ultra light & very very quick ( crashed a few too:eek: )
cheers andy |

Umm made mistake of going into the bike shop just across from me...KLR600 fitted with an RG400 motor...£500 or do I go for a k plate YZF750 £400 for my mad car... |
hi mark,
i,d stay away from the kl600 hybrid, the rg400 motor is a weak motor, i,d go for the 750 any day of the week, just check the condition of the sprocket output shaft, they,re a weakness if abused ( all 750,s are abused ). if not using it as a bike then i,d suggest replacing that shaft but think its a motor apart jobbie:eek: the nicest 2 stroke i,ve ridden is an ex korki bollington kwak h1r,1970,s coffin tank & oh so sweet sound when giving it some, the exit pipe size was about size of 1penny coin,i felt honoured to ride it. ordered my steel today:) :) cheers andy |
Wow and I can imagine the grin you had too:D
Have fun with the chassis:) |

hi les, how did you know that i AM a silly old bugger???:D sorry i get carried away thinking about my biking days, i,ll shut up:o lol.
cheers andy |
YZ490 for me anyday! :D :D insane power in an unstable chassis!
Hey andy did you get your steel pre cut or just steel stock? Chris. |

you carry on if you want to chat about bikes FABBY,S your man i think he,s been to every biking event in the country at some time he still talks of his norton dominator days at Brands  etc lol lol cheers les g |
me shudders!!! i once got asked to race a norton 750 for a guy that was gonna buy it from someone & the buyer wanted it raced as in giving a check over before he parted with the cash, well i raced it & couldn,t wait to get off it:eek: it was a pile of dog doo, gear change on wrong side for a start & when going around corners the thing wouldn,t lean just wanting to go straight on, he still bought it???? we later found it had only one spring in front forks, death trap.
it was a sigh of pure relief when chequered flag was waved. i,ve bought my steel from a supplier up near me, thought about buying as a kit but decided to have a go myself:eek: cheers andy |
Old but not quite got my rose tinted glasses Norton Dominator head on.Although I wouldn't mind a Triton...:D
Some would say 1965 was a good year where others would say a lot of loons were born then....... |
Had a Norton Commando once..... Never again !
