It was annoying me so I couldn't leave it until Monday

garyt 20th May 2016 06:25 PM

Nice job in particular the nice re route around the clutch cable
Seriously a nice neat job

TheArf 21st May 2016 07:37 AM

Thanks Gary, the most dificult is yet to come which is to run the pipe through the trans tunnel for the rear, but we have no students in on Monday so hopefully I can spend time, measuring twice even three times before cutting.

Yes that bit caused a few head scratch moments when I did it, thinking ahead where are you mounting the reservoir, as it I found it easier to remote mount it, I had it on the m/c and tried different pumps, vacuums, manual , pressurised to bleed it and then gave up remote mounted it level with the top chassis rail and bled the system in minutes.
Hope you get on , on Monday and keep the updates coming :)

TheArf 21st May 2016 01:58 PM

I am remote mounting it mate if you look at the ports where the reservoir should be you will two small ally adaptors that I have machined. They are basically a copy of the outlets of the reservoir but I have made both ends mirror images so that they will sit in the master cylinder and then the flexible will fit over the other end with a jubilee clip.
I'm planning on following the bulkhead up with a pipe going each side of the steering column p clipped in, but if you have any thoughts please feel free

sounds spot on and it WILL make life so much easier when it comes to bleeding them.

TheArf 21st May 2016 02:30 PM

Cheers mate, if I can get the rest of the copper in early enough on Monday morning, I will try to get the front up-rights in the wheels on and on the ground so that I can measure the length needed for my braided flexibles and make them up.
I also need to make a push rod to go from the peddle box to the master cylinder and fit the handbrake, say it quick and it doesn't sound like much :D

looking good, i take it you will change those bolts? they are not long enough and will fail iva as not through the nylock

TheArf 21st May 2016 07:42 PM

They are a temporary stop bolt behind the accelerator and clutch pedals, once the cables are connected and all running I will then machine two pins from round bar, and not bolts, that are adjustable stops but definitely long enough to come through the nyloc nut. You may also notice that the bolt is to long on the 3 way connector which the switch is screwed into, that will be cut down, but behind it there is a small amount of washers to push it away from the bulk head, these will be changed for a solid spacer as I hate using multiple washers to gain clearance. :)

TheArf 23rd May 2016 08:28 PM

Well, I managed to get the last section of solid pipe in to link the front to the rear, guess which idiot forgot to take photos to post up on here, maybe it was something to do with removing an MX5 engine this afternoon before the shell goes off next week for a full roll cage to be fitted.
I will take some photos tomorrow and post them on here.

TheArf 25th May 2016 07:36 PM

Cheers Gary, yeah it does feel good, trying to push on this week as i'm on leave next week. I need the break but I could do with more time on the car.

garyt 26th May 2016 06:49 AM

I know that you want to push on (and we want you to as well) but sometimes a wee break can help focus the mind and help with the planning ahead also keeps the boss happy lol

TheArf 26th May 2016 08:53 AM

Always keep the kitchen accountant happy Gary,it's her that lets me do what I do

I think I have one pipe done on mine ~ 2 years ago....

Will get back to it , life has taken a zig-zag in the last few weeks two funerals and 1800 unexpected miles of driving in 3 weeks. Puts me back in a frame of mind to get back to doing things and getting on with stuff.

TheArf 4th June 2016 07:17 PM

Well TT how about you and me both back to it on Monday, the holiday is over and back to work on Monday, so back to the build.
Been down to Demon thieves to day, four banjo fittings complete £43 they even charge for the copper washers separately where most include them with the banjo bolt.
