In a former life I used to be a civil engineer and I was working on a new shopping centre (Orchard Square, for those who know Sheffield) The area was old shops with huge basements.

In the intial survey we could hear a sort of low rumbling sound coming from the cellar so we opened a trap door and shone a torch down there.

The entire floor was under a sea of rats.

We closed the door sharpish and called the man from rentokill.

I'm sure you've seen the old films where the villan has a huge round bomb with a fuse in the top, well the guy had something that looked like that. He lit the fuse, opened the trap door, threw it in and taped the trap shut.

"come back tomorrow morning" he says, so we did.

He arrived in massive yellow waders and a padded yellow coat, huge gauntlets and a helmet with a visor on it.

He took the tape off the trap and opened it - the smell was incredible.

"Stand back" he says, disapearing down the hole.

He started to bring the rats up - dead - holding them by the tail in groups of about 6.

They just kept coming, for over an hour and three quarters.

In the end there were over 800 rats, 300 mice and, bizarely 12 squirrels!!!!

So I'm not a big fan of rodents ;)

Cheers

Chris :)

He he, my mutt kept sniffing at the cupboard door but when we opened it there was nothing wrong to see.

One day hwitnno went for the 3kg Bakers dog food bag to find it still sealed but empty. Small hole in the bottom where the little buggers had been getting in 3kg of dog food gone:eek:

Out with the trap and snap snap snap caught them all. Not been back for a couple of years so far:o :o

David
hours of fun and all got very individual personalities
DYSON now lives just up the road with my daughter she,s left the nest but only by just a few hundred yards so we see lots of him and when she,s out to play
he comes to us for company
DEEFOR is TJ,s mate
and like TJ is lazy and sleeps alot an awful lot
DENZIL is my missus shadow
and BUSTER is a rescue dog (same litter as DENZIL )we heard he was being beaten and mistreated by his owners
and ahem !!!( i had a quiet word shall we say)the next day he was dumped on our doorstep with his meagre belongings etc and has been here ever since
and has made it known he is now the boss, my best mate and trying
very hard to match DYSON but he aint a match for him he,s probably
to big and less agile
cheers les g
