It's my Roadster First Build Birthday!

Hi all,

Well, its a special day for my Roadster, it is exactly one year since I popped down to B&Q and put a sheet of MDF on the roof rack along with the timber battens. The build table was constructed by the end of the afternoon and the first chassis rails layed out.

Its amazing how much you can acheive with an average of one Saturday moring per week! I have even suprised myself!

I would like to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to Chris for the inspiration, and all the Forum members and new friends I have met over the last year.

Cheers

Spikehaus :)

Happy first birthday to your build that man

Very good progess in view of the amount of spare time available to you ;)

Having seen the build in the flesh, you have done a great job so far.

Yes Mark. I would eat my dinner from the floor of that workshop :D :D

bon anniversaire! looking good mate! have to second the comment on your garage being so tidy!thought my OCD was bad!

Spikehaus 19th July 2009 02:07 PM

I guess tidy = space! I am very lucky to have plenty of room, however dad was not looking to happy when I had both the build table and a half stripped Sierra sitting next to each other!

As for the floor, it was part of the deal that I could use the space and build the car as long as it did not get it dirty and fill the place with old car part!

fabbyglass 19th July 2009 02:11 PM

My excuse is fibreglass and resin is a messy thing to play with....:o

Looking good Nick,

I'll have to pull my finger out and catch up! You'll have to let me know when you start the beast and I'll pop round for a cuppa.

Just out of interest, how much did the prop set you back?

Spikehaus 19th July 2009 05:05 PM

£161 delivered next day. I could not believe how quick they made it - That cost was for a Heavy duty prop and included postage, painting & VAT.

I purchased it from North West Propshaft, this was the best price I could find. I believe a standard prop will be about £131

I still have my original Sierra prop that I was going to modify, but due to lack of time recently and working 11 hour days, I decided to spend out to keep things moving.

Hi Daz,

I am sure that when I am ready to fire it up, pretty much everyone I know will hear about it! LOL

Well, I need to modify the sump, sort out the alternator as it will not fit in the normal position (but I have a plan!) Modify & fit the injection air box, radiator, radiator reservoir, buy a fuel tank & temp fuel lines. Generally make a few brackets for engine bits like the ignition amplifier and sort out the loom!

Should I am for Xmas???? or the Exeter Kit Car Show?

fabbyglass 19th July 2009 08:42 PM

V6....uuummm just the job for late night blast down the A30;)

Spikehaus 19th July 2009 09:15 PM

Down the A30 to collect by bodywork! Hehe! I need a favour some time, I need to trial your seats. If you have some made before gel coat, could you let me know so I can try my Arse in it! Low side or wide I think?

I also need a nose cone and scuttle to mock up around the V6, I got a feeling I made need to commision you to make some custom parts? Don't be thinking ££ like I would! LOL Do you still have that other nose cone you posted a while ago? I think it may suit my project?

fabbyglass 19th July 2009 09:29 PM

Oh I thought you were about ready to go, didn't realise you need grp. That nosecone has got a new home up at an RAF base in Oxfordshire.

There is a bloke up in Hull( i think) using a V6 motor and has my grp and sure he said it's tickety boo clearance wise.

Spikehaus 19th July 2009 09:30 PM

So can you make another?

fabbyglass 19th July 2009 09:42 PM

Vented one?...oh yeah no problem ;)
